Signing Peltier was an awful decision, it was clear last season he was a journeyman coming to the end of his career and although he could fill a few roles he was not capable of being a first choice championship player in any position, you reap what you sow and MT got this wrong. I propose that we will see a lot of angoing injury issues to the older players through the season, we have gambled going for older championship experienced players and that is the risk. people keep saying "judge when the window is closed" this has its merits, however we will be 6 league games into a season by then and a bad set of results could have us in an unrecoverable position. We stayed up last year after a good start, we all know that a good start is crucial yet the club have not done enough to help us achieve that. I am sure will we now here a list of excuses, they may also have merit but that doesn't detract from the facts we have started a season with an unfit squad and a squad nowhere near capable of a successful championship campaign. The idea of football is to win games, that means scoring goals and we do not have a goalscorer at the club, our answer was to get another old man. Yes budget is a huge factor and nobody in their right mind wants TS to bankrupt the club, but we were told investment would be there, do not make promises if you can't keep them. We could have looked at bringing in younger players from lower down the league, other clubs do this, also the foreign markets, it is an easy get out to say we don't have the budget and there is nothing we can do. We have full time recruitment team their reason to exist is to find a way to bring in players, to be smarter when working with the authorities on paperwork, to identify potential lower league players to suggest strategies and players that could be worth a risk. Please don't come out with "what would you do?" it isn't mine or anybody elses job on here to do that, we have professionals that are paid to do that job and at the moment their output is questionable and that is what we are doing, raising these questions. Let us also not forget that MT says NONE of our young players are capable of stepping up to championship football, yet other clubs bring young players through, what does this say about our youth set up, we have had years and years to get that right and as of now it has also failed. Sorry to gru for writing another long post or to others for being down on things, as stated before it is my nature to look at the worse case scenario and then hopefully be delighted when proven wrong, but i feel the points i make above are valid, there has to be questions asked about this close season.
