I'm sure it's not, in fact I know it's not because, with the same resources and opportunities my previous surgery did an 'OK' but certainly worse job. I've said it before (about hospitals actually), and I'm not actually defending or otherwise HMG here, there is a LOT of waste / bad organisation in the way healthcare is delivered and grasping that nettle would be a worthwhile HMG project

I have no reason to disbelieve what you say about waste. Whether HMG are the best equipped to grasp that particular nettle is another matter.
It’s interesting how different organisations can vary so much despite having much the same resources meaning, I suppose, that it must all come down to management efficiency and competence.
There’s much not to like about Amazon for instance, but in terms of efficiency I can’t help thinking that many, from airlines to train companies and even Governments, could learn a lot from them. Whether I’d want to work for them is, again, another matter.

Exactly. Putting in place a business model that results in 'allow 21 days for delivery' to same day delivery is a triumph (Ok assisted by recent technology), and there are many other businesses which have areas of expertise that could transform the country if HMG and 'public servants' just stood back and let them get on with it. But 'they' (of any allegiance) won't, there are too many vested interests and too many egotists IMO.

And to reiterate that it's not been a fluke, I've had a toattly different ailment dealt with in record time, yet contrast that with a friend from North Notts who has had the same ailment, yet more severe, was reduced to tears of rage and pain by the slow progress of all concerned from his GP onwards, and eventually 'went private' to resolve the issue. His ire has been made more acute by the fact that his wife, a health professional in the same juresdiction, foretold the problems he had.
