Why so angry and impatient Chicken?! After all the shizzle we've had to endure as Notts fans over the last 30 years, i just can't understand why some posters are feeling so negative at the moment? We have great owners who are clearly investing in all aspects of the club, we are playing some lovely football, selling players for profit and have more fans attending games than ever before in my lifetime. The future is really bright and people need to chill.

About an hour, but Grimsby want be anywhere near the top of league 2 now will they?

We’ve had some injuries and 2 players short on the whole squad and still competed.
I’ve got a few none Notts’s mates who watched us Thursday on the TV and they said we looked a great side, just can’t understand the constant negativity?
Because the squad is one injury away from 14th place in league 2 or worse?

Well that’s your view and you could be right. The thing I can’t understand is how you’re so sure with so many new players coming in and hardly seeing them play?
I agree we 100% we need 2 to get us to the 25 man squad and yes it’s taking longer than ideal.

I think the reason for our 'patience' in recruitment is that the Bros are always trying to build a squad for the next level up. There's little point recruiting players on 2/3 year contracts whose ceiling is League Two if you're aiming to be competitive in League One, for example.

Because we never enacted on the momentum we had from getting out the national league. Just imagine the bounce we'd get having a double promotion? It was a possibility but we floundered. And the squad depth this year I can see it happening again

Not my club and not my money but like CBP I was disappointed that we didn't sort that defence out before the start of the first season back. I don't go with the "they got us promoted" sentimental guff (they didn't, the attacking options got us promoted), and I also don't believe for one minute that LW wanted to keep those players. We had such a big rush of interest from fans and media and we should have ridden that wave and who knows, we could still have LW and ML in L1.
Got to say this season holds promise though.

In retrospect, the team last season wasn't quite up to it. But we were unfortunate in that we lost our best player to injury and lost our manager. We had to give the players who won us promotion a chance in League 2 though didn't we? In fairness though we identified the problems and have built a completely new defence over the summer.

Our owners are not like Wrexham's. We aren't going to go spending wildly to get promoted, we will build slowly and improve year on year so that the foundations are right to sustain us. I'd take this approach any day of the week because for a club like Notts, it's the only one that will work long term. Trust the process, we're in a great place.

The double promotion discussion that’s appeared is an interesting one. I’d like to see the stats on how many clubs have done it recently.

An obvious repost is that if we go for it, flood money into the side and it doesn’t work, you are potentially left on uneasy ground the following season wage bill wise and your scope to improve further may be hindered. Clearly a lot of that is speculation as neither happened.
