I enclose a list of exemptions for jury service in Scotland and rules for applying for exemption. https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/sc...se-of-your-age
Before Covid I received a jury citation to attend a jury trial in Campbeltown Sheriff Court in late September.
I immediately phoned the Sheriff Clerk’s office in Campbeltown to ask what the proceed was for arranging overnight accommodation in Campbeltown for the night before the trial and subsequent overnight stays depending on how long the trial lasted.
The person in the Sheriff Clerk’s office told me that I should not have been called for jury service due to the cost of of a return journey from Islay to Campbeltown and staying in a hotel or B & B for the duration of the trial.
I received an exemption from jury service as a result of being on the voters roll in Islay.
In the event the trial never took place as I checked the Scottish court service website and no court cases took place in Campbeltown Sheriff Court on the date of my jury service.

They don't need to ask, there's no upper age limit. Anyone 71 and over will be exempt, but only if they apply for exemption which is automatically granted on request.
