Injuries, lack of depth, poor recruitment in attacking options and too much tippy tappy football. Better in defence, worse in attack
First Meadow Lane 0-0 in any competition since 19th November 2022 v Yeovil Town.
Abbott was OK but not MoM for me - that'd have to go to one of our back 3, they did their bit but were let down by what was happening ahead of them.
Some players should lose their place when they underperform - Austin, Brown, Palmer even have been lucky so far during this poor run of form
definite lull then. Clean sheet and a point, but we should have won that.
Scott and Brown (and to some extent Austin) just seem incapable of really impacting games. Brown has the best passing range, but neither look scary in the box.
They were much better off the ball than with it, and we couldn't break them down when they set. When they tried to play from the back, they were almost as bad as us last year.
0-0 loss for Notts. SM's got some work to do.
27 shots to 7, 7 on target to 2. 10 corners to 1.
We should absolutely have scored at least once in all of that. I guess the bright side is, if we ever hit upon the idea of fielding a striker, we will score goals!
How come Notts generally dominate possession home and away? What's that about?
Maynard should be doing better even without DC and JJ.
I don't think it's that type of selection issue. 1 CF and 2 Inside-forwards has served us well. It's just that chances falling to Brown, Scott, Austin, Abbott, Tsaroulla and today Didzy result in shots lacking in any conviction. And there's a case for banning Palmer taking any shot at all.
I'm left wondering how Fullarton, Sheridan and Moniz would be doing with this group of players.
"if we ever hit upon the idea of fielding a striker"
Was indeed being facetious...
