So do most Notts fans, the majority of the 'jilted lovers' are on this thread, a small sample size.

Football is an entertainment business - LW brings that.

SM sucked the life out of everyone.

I'd find it difficult to accept Williams back, he'd want to leave again at the wiff of the next opportunity, he's got a track record of that now.

Joao Alves would be an enormous mis-step.

That appointment would scream a lack of ambition and no real thought process - neither of which can realistically be attributed to our owners at this stage.

His stock isn?t so high any longer and once bitten twice shy.

I cannot believe people wouldn?t want the man back that :

Turned Langstaff from a non league footballer to a championship footballer

    Same with Rodrigues

    Amongst many more things.

Williams is a perfect fit for the owners and the club, but we played so badly towards him leaving because the players obviously knew his heart wasn't in it anymore and sure while part of that is on them, I do not want that for the club again.

There are plenty of other managers who could do similar things, I just don't believe that someone who has consistently been open about wanting to leave multiple clubs within a year is a secure fit for the future.

Sweden u21 manager Daniel Backstrom is 8/1. Jon Brady (who I rate ... and if I didn't have a stake restricted account with BetVictor, would have a sneaky tenner on) is out to 20/1.

If Alves gets the job, imagine the meltdown
This happens every time, and somehow people still fall for it. Remember when that made up fella from the Faroe Islands was odds on favourite last time.

I wonder if some of the posters who say NO to Williams because he was disloyal would take a very successful manager from another club ? Or would they be ruled out because they were disloyal ?

I dont really buy into the Williams left/will leave at the first opportunity narrative.

While with us he was linked with Portsmouth, then signed a new contract. He was also linked with Bradford and came out and said he was fully committed to Notts in post match interviews, so boxed that off pretty quickly.

He lives in Swansea, and for family reasons alone, the move made sense, even though it was frustrating...

The WBA drama while at Swansea probably does have some legs... but if he did come back to Notts I imagine it will probably humble him a bit.

I'd have him back, as long as he bought a house here haha!

It beggars belief that fans have an issue with a manager who earns us a promotion and then leaves when approached by a club two divisions higher.

I'd totally understand if he'd done a Crowley, and moved to a club at the same level. Or he'd done an Allardyce, and stiffed us out of a fee. But come on, it was a job closer to where he lived, a huge reputation boost and a big pay rise.

Every single one of us would do the same in our chosen fields.

If LW wants it, I'll back him every step. If the brothers go with someone else, that's cool too.

Some very bitter people - it's football. I'd question LW sanity if he didnt go to Swansea with all of those things that made sense for him.

The 'first opportunity' thing is lies, turned down Portsmouth and Oxford, before signing a new deal that ensured when he did go we got serious ???.
