The fact is that too much of the current UK economy demands cheap and easily exploited labour. Farage can bang on all he wants about "closing the borders" but how is he going to keep his billionaire backers happy without a constant flow of cheap immigrant labour? The man is a complete fraud and if he gets elected the country will be fecked. It will be austerity on steroids, worker's rights will be dismantled and inequality will explode. Just be aware of that when you all tick Reform in 3 years time.
So are you saying the country needs cheap and easily exploited labour as well as workers rights and equality?

    The plot so far...

In 2025 Andy Burnham went on record to say that Brexit wasn't a good idea. Now that he is standing in the Makerfield by-election he is saying the complete opposite. He's obviously pandering to the people of Makerfield, the majority of whom voted for Brexit.

Wes Streeting was unhappy with the Brexit result but reckons we as a nation must move on.
Who would you trust when our wonderful PM wants to move closer to the EU?

Sir Keir Starmer wants to stay in number 10 Downing Street for the duration and has no plans to leave. Never mind the electorate Sir Keir might even lead his party into the next General Election despite what I've posted previously!!!

Voting in the Makerfield by-election takes place on Thursday, 18th June 2026.

And I've not had any breakfast yet!!

That's one of the reasons people voted for brexit.
We the U/K should make decisions in our own country.
Quite right and fair enough, we were. the only problem is we don?t seem to have a party or PM good enough to do it.

Footnote. 2016. As I recall, the only ones stirring up anti eu to any great extent was a fractious tory party and the media. Cameron anxious over own party assumed we would all want to stay.

I firmly believe being in or out, both are quite achievable with good management. Only two major things complicate that.

1.The eu was our major trading partner.
    2. The Dublin protocol was effective, the ease of boats and illegals have thus increased.

    Both have been suffered since.
