Although this didn’t come to light until many years later, I remember reading that the Dons had apparently been in discussions about signing young Neeskens after his performances for Holland in the 1970 UEFA Under 18 Championship Finals, which were held in Scotland during that May. Unfortunately for the Dons he was tempted to join Ajax instead.........

Do any other auld bvggers remember this tournament? I’d all but forgotten about it but I do have a vague memory of attending one of the three games held at Pittodrie but no idea which one.

Cissy Houston. Soul singer. Very good in her own right, and the star turn in the Sweet Inspirations when they were Elvis’s backing singers in the powerful Vegas and Hawaii days.

Ma of Whitney, auntie of Dionne Warwick.

    A mere 91.

Alex Salmond was probably the best politician I have seen (within the uk).
Absolutely feared by the Unionist parties and by far the best leader the SNP ever had.
His desire for Scotland to not just to be independent but also treated equally was tremendous.
He was a true political heavyweight.

    RIP Alex
