Although this didn’t come to light until many years later, I remember reading that the Dons had apparently been in discussions about signing young Neeskens after his performances for Holland in the 1970 UEFA Under 18 Championship Finals, which were held in Scotland during that May. Unfortunately for the Dons he was tempted to join Ajax instead.........

Do any other auld bvggers remember this tournament? I’d all but forgotten about it but I do have a vague memory of attending one of the three games held at Pittodrie but no idea which one.
