Why would an upgraded Pittodrie need to be set out the same. The main doesnt have to be the main for example. There is plenty room to revamp.

It just hasnt been looked into as it was never the plan

There was not any additional space created when the Tynecastle Mainstand was built. They used additional space by knocking down other facilities and relocating a school / nursery

Although technically a matchday, it was not typical attendance or emergency services provision as intimated by LED's post

We potentially could do something similar, but as I said earlier, we would likely need to buy Pittodrie Street from the council and you never came back with your thoughts on the costs for redeveloping Pittodrie with a presumed rotated pitch.

I suspect if they (say) cantilevered over Pittodrie Street it would be an Easement rather than an ownership issue but i also suspect that never crossed their minds
