Yes, Afghanistan is described as on the border of central and South Asia so I suppose Pakistan and Bangladesh being further south must be South Asia

Which is fair enough, but it got me thinking about what these people actually do that is of benefit to society as a whole?

    Can’t be easy finding work.
Im guessing it was the call for workers from the Empire to help rebuild Britain in the post war years.

I understand that Enoch Powell was one of the MPs who went out to the West Indies on a recruitment drive. Funny old World.

But signs in different languages is not unusual in the modern World. I see road and public transport signs in both Mandarin and English in darkest industrial China.

Yes, Wan, that is the usual fairy tale spun. It is sadly bollox. Several million men were demobilising to the point where women who had filled many ***** roles were forced out of the workplace back into the home.
What post-war Britain lacked was capital NOT labour. The heroic myth of the Windrush sailing to our aid to staff TFL is comical. And what economic need did we have in the sixties, seventies and eighties for huge numbers of unskilled, illiterate villagers from South Asia whose most visible contribution to our society is purple and orange paint schemes and ubiquitous mosques?

I’m not on about 1950s Windrush, but now in 2020

If you can’t speak or understand English enough to follow the covid guidance and 24/7 tv coverage just what useful role can you have in U.K. society ?

    Who would employ you?

Wtf are you on about, Wan. They "came" because they lived in sh*tholes. But when they got here they decided it was a good idea to make this green and pleasant land a sh*thole too just so they wouldn't feel homesick. I like you, Wan, but if you're going to be a pr*ck about this we will fall out. Perhaps. Temporarily. Maybe.

I hope Bristol Council are intending to send an invoice to that person for the costs of removing the statue she placed there to replace Colston.

It,s unbelievably arrogant to have a statue made of yourself, erect it in a prominent place and then boast about it. An elevated sense of self worth that goes way beyond any protest or request for change.
This will just alienate people from whatever she thought she could achieve by doing it.
