Or what about Terry Butcher? or Jim McIntyre? etc etc because they will apply. Are you really saying the board would pick Paul Sheerin over any of them.

I'm certainly not advocating any of them, the point is there will be plenty more experienced applicants than Paul Sheerin looking to manage AFC. I'm not saying they would be any better, just less riskier.

For what it's worth I'd go for Alan Archibald.
On risk, there is an argument that having worked with DM, who has been relatively successful as an Aberdeen manager, having worked with the youth team and thus provides an element of stability at what is normally a turbulent time, that an internal promotion to replace DM would be seen as the less risky option.

You mentioned Hughes, Butcher & McIntyre. Do you think they have demonstrated success and a path for improvement at Aberdeen?

I would rather have Sheerin over any of them.

Archibald is a decent shout, but also still provides an element of risk.

    I'd go for: -

    1) Potter / Reid
    2) Jack Ross
    3) Sheerin / Robson
    4) Archibald

I'm only guessing the board would go for Sheerin / Robson as a natural succession plan.

I just picked a few examples where it has successfully worked, I'm sure I could come up with more with a bit more time and effort.
It seems to be the German model which is working successfully, who's to say the club has not looked at that and are trying to implement a similar model.
Certainly there is no justification to completely dismiss without merit or consideration of what he is actually delivering within the club

I truly believe he was lured to the club as a succession plan for when DM moves on.
He works with the first team every week, knows the players and would be a simple transition.

    Based on what.
They’re 2 points behind us having played a game more.
We also beat them at Easter Road.

Would you rather be in their position?
These boards are all about opinions. I'm not in the know about succession planning. Are you ? It all sounds a bit far fetched.

I'm not saying it won't happen just in my opinion it is highly unlikely. Aberdeen weren't succession planning when they appointed Neil Cooper to the youth team from his job at Forfar a comparable team to Arbroath. And we are talking about a guy who was manager at Arbroath ffs.

When McGhee was sacked Cooper took over for one game. If McInnes goes, and I don't think he will, Sheerin might get the gig as caretaker for a couple of games until new manager arrives. You're entitled to your opinion although I would suggest you are very much in the minority on that one.

I know we are are above Hibs. That wasn't my point. I haven't seen all their games but the ones I have watched i've been impressed. Not something I can say about Aberdeen this season

    Not what you said earlier.

I accept he may not get the job, I was just debating the opinions expressed as facts that there is no way he would get the job

Christ you have a bee in your bonnet mate. I was trying to be somewhat conciliatory in my later posts. I will now revert to type and have to admit you are annoying the hell out of me with your constant rubbish about succession planning.

May I throw some names at you. Paul Hegarty, Roy Aitken , Willie Miller all promoted from within. All sacked within a relatively short period of time. McInness has been our best manager for a long time. Milne is highly unlikely to go down the route of promoting from within when it clearly hasn't worked in the past. Sheerin may very well be a decent coach. That doesn't necessarily make him a manager of the sufficient standard required.. The club put simply cannot afford to take the gamble.

    I can wait him out.

Interesting that Milnes saying that & not McInnes himself. Obviously doesn’t want to burn his bridges with the Huns. You never know when you might need a job in future

Good to see the club backing McInnes.

What is for next week in the rags is the Neil Simpson ian durrant tackle and most likely in Monday mornings sun or daily rectum. Unless the sun on sunday give a mention as they do!

They had to say something before the double header with Sevco, but it would be better if McInnes said it himself.

DM’s press conference tomorrow might be interesting.
He’ll inevitably be asked about Milne’s comments.
It might be (highly unlikely) that DM himself will nail the speculation.
More likely is that Milne has thrown him under the bus & that he’ll do his best to deflect & sit on the fence again.
My guess is he’ll stonewall any questions.

A bit off topic but I noticed Stewart Milne said in that interview he hopes to get approval for the new stadium so we can have the stadium for the next 20-40 years.

It looks like he is hoping the new stadium lasts as long as the houses his company build last for
