To be honest slow cardiovascular exersise isnt the best for losing weight. Squash is one of the best activities for losing weight and calories (yu can burn 800+ calories in a 40 minute game!! incredible eh) but hes probably not fit enough for that just now. In general the best way to lose weight is to tackle the diet, not exersiseOriginally Posted by DITA

I agree, but getting chauffeur driven only adds to the problem.
The first step to becoming an ex-fatty is getting off your fat erse and doing something about it. Walking to the shops instead of driving is a massive step in the right direction. Being chauffeur driven about the place is a step in the wrong direction.
He needs to get some weight shed, or we'll be picking up the bill for his hospital expenses next.
Plus, Squash (and Golf) is for thoses chasing a career in my line of work,

"I stand by my words that being driven, or indeed driving ones self to the shops is not good for weight loss."
I stand by them as well. Being driven and being chauffeur driven is not, does not claim to and never will be particularly good for weight loss. So nothing to see here.
"But driving, and in so doing, using muscles to steer, depress the clutch, brake and accelertor pedals etc, will invariably use (granted very little) calories, which in turn may aid in any weight loss you may be attempting. Certainly more so than sitting on ones fat erse in the back of a car."
Again I agree. And one should not forget to add to your succinct points that being chauffeur driven can also enable the drivee to do a variety of exersises better for ones health then the 'exersise' of driving a car.
Great stuff. Between us we have established that there is no issue at all here regarding Sir Alex's chauffeur driven car and we can all wish him many happy years being driven around the place.
