It's all relative though BT, ordinary joes like us, born into post war Britain, were born far better off than those millions born into under-developed countries in Asia and Africa, or into totalitarian states like the USSR and North Korea. Just an accident of birth that has given you and me such a better life than millions on this planet. What have you done about this, do you even feel guilty or responsible in any way ?

We’re also far better off than many in the USA which spend billions on war and on 4 yearly elections but has no Royal Family and millions in poverty. It also has loads of billionaires, but they don’t like Obamacare so if you need treatment and have no money you are turned out and can die.

The Royals play an important part in our democracy, by preventing any Prime Minister becoming presidential as Blair was trying. They protect our assets for the future and stop them being grabbed by individuals.
They are not all my favourite people, but Harry’s mother was a commoner and he has done a lot to improve people’s lives. He is marrying another commoner. Good luck to them.
I'd agree that Royals are an important part of democracy for your reason above Colner.

Its just set up wrong where ALL Royals abuse the privileged and the general public pay through the nose for them to live a care free happy life, as I have stated they are all money rich yet they pay for hardly nothing, folk say they bring many tourists into our Country which evens it out, I'd disagree as its not proven even by statistics which does not include the very large sum for security, and when you add that vast sum its ridiculous figures that are paid again through the British public.

Chamber maids, Butlers, Game keepers, Stable hands and all the rest of staff at Buck House, and all the other estates and Charlie's land are paid a pittance for their labour so that the Royals grasp every penny going, and its a very pretty penny, Prince Charles is praised for all he has done for his trust and everything else but for me he's worse than Mike Ashley by gaining money at the expense of normal folk.

I have posted this before and here it is again, Prince Charles was asked if he wanted wind turbines on his estate, he came across all heavenly and earthly saying "I don't want wind turbines on my estate, it will be a blight and spoil the country side for everyone to enjoy", he was then informed he could earn many £'s by having them, so he quickly changed his mind just for the dosh.

The Queens speech at Christmas, what a farce, and some gullible folk (Matron is one of them) sit down and swallow all the out of touch nonsense this Queen spouts, her Windsor Castle caught fire one year, what a horrible horrendous account she said, I was also devastated that one of her residents went up in flames when normal folk have troubles every week in their own lives let alone once in a while at one of her many residents.

Yes Colner, Lady Diana was a commoner, but had some privileged history in her family, she was shipped in (I kid you not) to spawn children for Charles who's girlfriend for many years was past it, as soon as she'd done her duty she was quickly dispatched, the way they distanced themselves from her when they parted and the shallow way they acted when she was killed was despicable and brought out to me the real Royals and how hard, fast and uncaring they really are.

Hello Gaz, hope you Claire are well, as I have stated in a previous post I don't care what happens in any other Country be it rich or poor, I care what happens in my own back yard, Britain does a lot for other "certain" Countries with handouts, yet in this day and age folk are living on our island in our streets, even folk with homes are using food banks, as someone has stated we get adverts with celebrities wanting money to feed the homeless at Christmas, you are not allowed to beg in the street yet its thrown in our faces, in this day and age nobody should be homeless, but the Government does hardly nothing about it.

I'm happy that you think this is still a great Nation Gaz, for me it went down the tubes long ago, and the way things are going its going to get spit out soon.

Even this morning someone else asked Teresa May to make the Wedding a public holiday as it would give the British public more incentive, WHAT A LOAD OF BOLLOX.

    Wow.

Did you know the fact that we have a monarchy makes a NET contribution of £1.155 billion (2015 figure) to our economy?

What would you replace them with?

I presume that you would get rid of all the gentry, Lords, Dukes, the lot?

How would you achieve this? revolution?

How would you deal with the large number of people who would oppose it (like me)?

    Stick us all in gulags?

It has been tried, in Russia.

    I'm out.

Believe it or not but I think Prince William sees the need to reduce the living splendour and embarrassment of Royal riches.

I have nothing against the Firm as individuals (Elizabeth resembles in looks and stature my sadly now departed Auntie Gladys) but their inherited lifestyle and privilege is simply way over the top IMHO.

We can argue this one forever. You either are a Royal or a Republican. You all know where I stand.

I vividly remember being in Tenerife with wife number four when Princess Di was being buried. The swimming pool was full of blokes playing a drunken version of water polo and there truly was not a woman in sight.

I sent the lad off to investigate. He came back giggling saying the bar was full of scricking, crying women and a few odd blokes.

....all this bowing to history - names and titles, marrying for power and property rights, do anything to get it, throw them in the tower and drown them in wine, send in the assassins...or string up those who dare to question, can even get the surfs to do it for you, have them run themselves into battle behind a flag, because another "Royal" cousin is a power hungry lunatic who wants for more....and then there's those who'll bet on the outcome, the special ones that play in the square mile - the City of London - a law unto itelf with no national authority, and flying its own flag.... by the power of the big houses....There's your true leaders, they who control Politicians, Foreign Policy, Economies and the food on the table, and sure - the so called Royalty are a part of it, they just wear a fancy crown and put on a smile for the people, pretend they care - but in truth are no different than the other Gray suds who dominate the market for their own benefit - but then others will give you pictures of new babies, and contrived visits to old peoples holmes etc.....if you like that sort of thing.
