We do not have a single Championship class striker at the club and that is why we'll probably go back down . Perhaps we should now try Hirst and Ladapo together in the hope that there is improvement in Hirst though i wouldn't bank on it. Any team that has to play Wood at centre half is asking for trouble.Thompson would be more mobile but he seems to have vanished.

I think the general conclusion seems to be we need to play 4-4-4 but even with the incompetence of the EFL and referees we might struggle to get away with 13 on the pitch. Worth a try though!

Played quite well today, knocking about.....but, without creating any good scoring chances. No matter how good we play my biggest fear is that someone in defence will slip up and they score..

1st goal, Harding loses the ball instead of clearing, ball chipped over and Mattock not close enough to Meite, not the strongest shot but Blackman doesnt save it.....totally avoidable.

2nd goal.....oh dear, who marking Meite, he has time to control and over head kick in to the goal...totally avoidable.

3rd goal, big lump over the top and even though it's 2-1 we cant do anything, i said the other day Joao would get a pen......totally avoidable.

With 67% possesion we cant make a good chance but we still throw away 3 goals....................it does'nt take much analysis to see who/what's going wrong.....It's happening every game. Wouldn't be hard to take if Reading played us off the park and scored 3 good goals.

We have the players, but we just have to find the right combinations, start players currently benched and play players in the natural positions and give them a run of games to click.

Our best chance in the game fell to Hurst who completely fluffed it (dont blame warne for that) had he made it 1-1 it would have been a great substitution wouldnt it !!!!! then Lapado brought a good save from their keeper, could have been another good sub !!!!! ive critisised us this season for not been able to keep the ball but thought we were very good in that department today but like a lot have said NO END PRODUCT. think we can take some positives from the game the biggest one....we didnt miss Crooks, got to agree with gru on this one he is a liabillity. But that comes with confidence and swapping players in and out of the side every game game doesn't work.

But it keeps the majority of the players happy and reduces the chance of confrontation between manager and player.

PW said he will rotate the squad this season.
I think we play four midweek games in succession.

why didn't they cancel the league cup and spread the games out a bit more

It’s always good to keep he same team if they’re the best on pitch we’ve got but seeing that games are coming at us I can see why we are changing some.
Maybe the staff need to think more about the subs, not been the best tactic up to now

Theres an argument to suggest that Harry Kane wouldn't get that many goals in this team. Strikers can only convert what is given to them. I suppose Smith had a couple of headers he could have done better with and the others had half chances here and there but that was it. I just thought that there were far too many deliveries into the box that lacked the quality needed at this level. We can get up the pitch really well but need to deliver into the box a lot earlier with far better quality than we saw yesterday. Unfortunately its starting to mirror the last time we were here!
