There’s a very nice brewery in Fremantle called Little Creatures, their IPA is magnificent
Btw I always thought that the Fremantle Doctor was a bit of a myth, it certainly isn’t

I was in Fremantle in 1989, a couple of years after the Americas Cup was held there and around the time they started the rejuvenation/gentrification of the city. Had quite a nice vibe. Must admit though its the only place I've ever been in a restaurant and seen a live mouse run out of the kitchen. I suppose it's better than having a fried one turn up on your plate![]()

I first went in about 1985 and it was a bit run down though quite bohemian. I liked it. I’ve been back a couple of times since and the regeneration work was very evident. Some good; much a bit tacky. As Grist says, the Fremantle Doctor is no myth. Bloody cold in the afternoons even wit the sun out.
I did stints working in Sydney and Brisbane and visited Melbourne, Adelaide and Canberra but never made it across the Nullarbor.

My wife reckons people only go to places so they can brag about them on footy forums but she's a very cynical person. Her opinions are coloured by a wastrel brother of hers who had a tantrum, left the house and moved just round the corner but when he came back he pretended he's been on an expedition up the Amazon! I have several times been to Australia, most recently to Nhulunbuy but I can't say why I went. I was in Cambodia on several occasions in the late 1960s but again can't say why. I have also been to Belfast and Derry but the less said. More recently I have been in Whitby.
your wife is bang on.
and Whitby is brilliant.
I’m looking at the next Ashes tour, but at the end of the day Oz ain’t Whitby but may have to grin and bare it
Being the pompous arse that I am that's exactly what I was thinking when I visited Western Australia back in 1989 and I'm sure CT did when he was there a few years earlier. I thought, in years to come (around 15 maybe) when the Internet becomes popular and they invent message boards, I'm sure RUFC will start one called Millers Mad and after it's been in existence for a couple of decades I'll be able to brag about this trip to Fremantle and piss off an old curmudgeon called Monty.
