I was an armchair Dundee supporter for 28 years as I played golf at Downfield Golf Club before ‘emigrating’ to live on Islay.
Now I am getting older and it would not be difficult for me to become an armchair supporter again especially as now I do not have to wait for the vidiprinter to get the full time score.
Hope you don't mind my answer.
I think the big picture is that we have had a succession of owners who have tried to go too quickly. Fan based ownership didn't work for us until Bill Colvin came on board and I think he passed us over to what should have been a safe pair of hands with consideration financial resources. The trouble has been that a very early decision was made to abandon Dens and that is the core of the problem. We are not a strong performing SPFL club with 12-15k supporters so anything we try to do has to be done on a shoestring budget.
For me getting our ground back, as part of DFC is essential. I can't see any picture with us playing in a brand new stadium at Campy. I can see loads of youngsters coming back to support us if they get the sort of encouragement that Bowyer gave them and they have a special space in the South Enclosure.
I believe that the management of Dundee Football Club should attempt to get as many bums on seats at home games at Dens Park instead of making it difficult for supporters who are not season ticket holders who at present have to queue up twice to get into Dens Park. Once to purchase a ticket and then in a second queue to get into Dens Park.
Although I have never purchased a ticket online I understand that there is a charge in addition to the cost of the match day ticket even for people collecting their ticket from the ticket office.
Thank you for your answer.
I would also add that everything was going well until Scot Gardiner resigned as the Dundee Football Club Chief Executive and John Nelms took over despite having no previous experience of running a full time professional football (soccer) club in Scotland.
Since then things have gone steadily downhill with Nelms in charge and until he is gone I cannot see things getting better.
Not read many posts about Spoofer saying he did a good job.
