Trying to evaluate the current Queens squad against good Premier league opposition is not valid. They were much slicker, better passers of the ball and hunted as well as defended in packs being one of the best sides I have seen at Palmerston in years. May I suggest that they are leagues above us. A more realistic challenge and assessment will come following Tuesday evenings match. Stay calm people in the meantime avoiding knee jerk reactions.

I actually thought qos played quite well in flashes until the final third. They were passing the ball around in the middle of the park with confidence. The problem was when they got into the final third Aberdeen were quick to shut the attacks down with some good defending. As the previous post, I was impressed by Aberdeen and think they will be a top 4 side with that style of play. Loads of effort from qos, just not the quality which is understandable with the difference in where bother clubs are

I think Fatfan is spot on.
I expected Aberdeen to be good, but they were much better than that, and the pace of some of their players was incredible, particularly the substitute Ambrose.

Any reasonable minded person would accept that Aberdeen are 2 leagues above us and 'appear' to have assembled their best team in many a long time, while Queens have literally just got their squad together, so we need to cut them some slack.

Aberdeen are aiming for a top 3 spot in the SPL, while we need a team to at least get a top four placing in the First Division, it seems very harsh (for some of us on this outlet ) to belittle the efforts of our lads on day one of the season and I would politely ask them to show some patience.
Yes, I remember saying something similar last season, but this is just mid July and a sense of realism is required.
If the team are struggling against First Division opposition in 3 months time, then there would be some justification in criticising the manager and the team, but in my humble opinion, I don't think it is merited at the moment.

Absolutely nonsense yet again from a so called supporter who’s not been anywhere near Palmerston for years.

Aberdeen were too quick and sharp for us. Not unexpected. There seems to be clamour to sign more defenders but if we have budget left I would be using it all for a striker and preferably a pacy winger. We have Rogerson and hopefully a soon to be fit Church and Bryden in the squad.
Harry was the only regular from last season it will take time.
Aberdeen played some good stuff. Mackenzie at left back is a real prospect.
Good to see the old ground busy. Hopefully some will be back on Tuesday.

There’s no way we can judge our season ahead after a defeat to premier league Aberdeen who really showed their class at times. I think we’ll go much better once we’ve our defence fully fit.

A really enjoyable watch which is a marked step up from last season. Plenty of real potential throughout the side with no negatives. I like McIntosh up front who will give defenses a hard time, Doherty on the right wing is a revelation and McKenzie assisting and scoring with help his confidence which you could see visually diminish at times last season when the crowd were on his back. We had real strength in midfield with Lyons, Benji and Dickenson adding a bite alongside Harry and at the back Douglas looks a commanding figure. Still a work in progress but I do like what I am seeing under Murphy which is chalk and cheese compared with Bartley's defensive mentality.

Still early doors but there’s so many positives compared to last season already. Lyon , Douglas , Dickerson & Kennedy are class acts. We’re lucky to have them

Still early days and I question the depth of the squad atm but watching the other night I think we could be in for a decent season. A lot of talented players and a physical presence that hasn’t been there in recent years. Douglas was absolutely outstanding. Commanding, quick and defends first and clears his lines at the right times instead of making stupid passes at the back like last season. Dickinson is going to prove to be an outstanding signing, especially once he’s back into midfield, the two lads up front work there socks off. Good times ahead I think, but a couple more signings to compete for places and push the players we have and I feel we will have a huge push this year. What a difference a summer makes!!
