So much to pick over from that. Falkirk looked sharp and fluid from the start. They looked like the Prem team and we looked like a pub team that didn't know how to play so we just hoof it long.

They're all over us, they're playing through us, our midfield is overrun, they hit the bar. Our formation is making it easy for them. Middleton is struggling, Thomson is struggling, Moult is getting scraps and we're creating nothing.

Goodwin watches. Does nothing. Doesn't even change it to 442. Nothing.
It's unbelievable that we actually improved when Grimshaw came on but the game was way gone by then.

I hate to say this but I would have said the same thing in May, the following players are not ready or just not good enough for the Premiership.

    Middleton
    Thomson
    Fotheringham
    Watt
Moult unless he gets a quality partner
    McLeod

We don't have a clue how to play it on the deck and we don't have a clue how to break defences down.

    Worrying to say the least.

The only positives on a bad day were the new signings bedding in, Walton made some great saves when tested, and the fact that surely more quality is coming in the door.

Should we be worried? possibly. Meltdown, we are goign down etc. Too feckin soon.

Didn't like the group when it was drawn and the opener being away to Falkirk on the plastic was the worst one to begin

You know much will be made of it either way, there will be the obvious ones who have a meltdown, for me this competition is meaningless this season unless we get through and I felt the same last term, getting promoted first time and staying up now we are is the challenge after relegation

This time last year we weren't ready for the league but three week's later we were and we started strongly had a great first quarter and didn't lose till December

We need to get upto speed even more this time as it's a step up and a few new faces, we still need 3-4 more good signings to be ready for the season ahead, where if we finish outside the bottom two then it'll be acceptable

I'm going to call it now. 5 at the back won't work for us with the CURRENT personnel.
That was an utter car crash today.

With Docherty out we lacked any authority in midfield. No possession and no creativity. Zero. Absolutely zero. We couldn't keep the ball, we gave it away or we punted aimlessly forward.
Completely clueless. Now how Goodwin couldn't see pre match that we had no quality in midfield is beyond me but he starts Middleton and not ready Thomson in there.

In a game we badly wanted to win you look at that yesterday and you say ok we're going 442 tomorrow.

    Walton
    Strain Svelje Graham Holt
    TrapanovskiSibbaldODonnellFerry
    Watt Moult

    Have I missed someone?
Not perfection but more solid than that complete sh1tefest. That United starting 11 would have got hammered by a Prem team today.

My real worry is that JG doesn't know how to get ANY 11 players working as a fluid creative unit. John McGlynn does.

Spine of the team is all wrong...no leaders on the park at all! Toothless up front, canny defend corners...canny get a shot at goal...couldn't pass 2 ft in front of themselves! Heave all your money on a Dundee win for the opener because we are p1sh and JG disnae do big games! That was just pathetic all over the park today.....we actually look worse than last season and at least as bad as our relegation season. It night be early...but it didn't seem to hamper Falkirk...or any of our other SPL teams. If this doesn't pick up... JG will be gone before the SPL season starts.

..and I will once again put the tin hat on and state that I think Lois Moult isn't very good.

Moult can score some chances when he gets them. Thing is... he won't get many, for a good few reasons.

Hopefully another experiment that went tits up... lessons learned etc...

    Hmmmm..... not so sure.

We're looking to strengthen in that area but I take it you didn't see the match?
    In 94 minutes
Number of chances LM missed 0
Number of chances created for him 0

He's scored goals at a good rate in the top flight before. He'll do so again but the whole team was f*cking awful today not just him.
