We know very little but we have to trust the excellent people we have running the club now. That’s even if we don’t get Guehi. With the ‘wonderful’ PSR in place, every signing has to be a good one otherwise it can set you back 3 years (the rolling average rule). Therefore we shouldn’t pay whatever it takes. Personally I would be wary of going over 55 million (plus add ons) for this player - and I think our next bid will be around there.
Yes. I hope we’re beginning to plant this seed of doubt in their minds. Guehi is a very good player (although I’ve heard doubts about his ability in the air - he was beaten in the air for a goal from a corner today, apparently although I didn’t see it). He’ s English but also a defender and so 55 million is a lot of money when you look at the price of other players around.
With the experienced scouting system this club has, they must have a list of a few potential youngish centre backs throughout Europe who would jump at the chance of the Prem probably at a half of Guehi's asking price.
In the past couple of years they have signed a one or two gold nuggets we had hardly heard about and they have come off.

Agree, hes not worth a penny above £50mil.
I would look abroad. More bang for the buck there.
Not really worth blowing so much of the PSR-limit on this player. Its not like hes going to be a world class CB, I think... And for £65mil for a CB, it should be close to world class - in my book.
For than money he has to be a better player than Botman,
Our defensive frailty cost us last season.
I don’t think we can be sure of Schar being available as much this season, Botman out till Dec/Jan, even the likes of Lascelles could be out till next year and at this stage his level of ability is probably not even at where we want to aim for this season (Top 5 given no games in Europe)
I’d love to see a RW, I’ve been loudly a fan of getting better than Miggy, but I think not having some quality depth to defence will cost us more than not having a better RW.
I think we need someone in this week, Schar hobbled off on Sat night… Howe apparently not concerned but just goes to show how light we are… imagine starting the season with Burn and Krafth as our CB pair… capable for sure, but not the platform of Botman and Schar (which was a big part of the season we finished 4th)
I think we should offer our best and last, today, and if not accepted then move on… but for the sake of experience in the Prem and being fit to play now… I’d go up to 60m for Guehi, even the 65m, because we know Eddie likes to slowly bring people in… so having experience of the league will help on that front… anyone coming from outside the Prem will take longer for Eddie to name on the team sheet.
I’d think that Kelly is above Krafth in pecking order.
So it is Schar-Burn with Kelly-Krafth as back ups.
If we do sign Guehi or other top level CB, who would be dropped? Howe loves Burn and Schar has 5-10 goals in him (either himself of with that long passes) that I’d hate to bench him
Make a final offer then move on. Time is ticking I feel.
A lot of I thinks…
I think rotation has to be better moving forward, to keep people fit and developing understanding so that when someone is injured then there is already an understanding across different combinations of players.
I think we had a lack of quality last season, Lascelles to a degree and Dummet certainly.
Schar is 33 this year, so I think his ability to play all games and his chances of dodging all injury’s is decreasing a lot due to age.
Having an International level player available now, in a position we need to have better depth in, suggests we strengthen… he’s also prem proven too, which is a massive plus.
I think Krafth is being shoe horned into CB too, likely Ashby will go back out on loan and if Tripps leaves then Krafth is a canny stand in for Tino.
