100%. The amount of tackles he won against Accy was crazy. Proper old-school sliding tackles as well. I feel like I haven't seen that sort of thing at Notts for years, maybe since Ryan Yates. He's solid on the ball as well. But more than that, he's intelligent. Against Accy, he made some great runs that you rarely see CMs make at this level.

Interesting if brief from a Spurs podcast.

Seems to have impacted our firstX1 ok.

more than ok! High quality addition to the pool.

At the time it seemed we had lots of competition for places in midfield and I wondered what a U21 player would bring, and what expectations Spurs would have that he get game time. Turns out he's a really exciting find and will give SM a good selection headache.

SM keeps saying we set up with the opposition in mind, alongside Bass, Platt, Bedeau, Macari, Crowley, Jones, and now I guess Palmer, are there any other guaranteed starters? Is Abbott?

I would expect Abbott to be one of the first names on the team-sheet. We shouldn't be surprised at how good he already is. After all, he has had his Spurs first-team debut even if it was only a brief appearance. The only way he should be demoted would be if he became less committed, but there's been absolutely no hint of that. The opposite if anything: he should relish his time with us.

If Abbott maintains his early promise, it’ll be a real god send for Matt Palmer.

I think we’ve already seen Palmer hasn’t had to be rushed back, even with Scott Robertson picking up another injury. Abbotts all round game should allow Palmer to sit a little deeper and really knit things together.

From what I’ve seen of Abbott so far, he plays every game if fit.
I like Robertson and Hinchy has had a decent start, but they’re not close to the level of Abbott.

He’s not long turned 19 and before he signed for us had played two minutes of senior football. He looks class but we’ll have to be a bit careful with him, don’t want to burn him out by Christmas. I’d look at him as a bit like McGoldrick but at the opposite stage of his career where we need to manage their minutes more than the mid-20s lads with years of 46 game seasons behind them.

Luckily our midfield looks absolutely stacked this season so we should be fine dipping him out when needed.

I think Maynard said that he's a young lad and his game time will have to be managed carefully so will probably not start every game.
    Great prospect though.

You may be right but I don’t think we’re going to burn out a 19 year old.
Plenty of players his age play week in week out at higher levels.
I don’t remember Yates, Grealish, McGregor etc having their game time managed.
