Well there's only Grant McCann that seems to have got a consistent tune out of Wilks , a loan spell at Donny was very productive in McCann's first spell at Rovers and he then bought him off us when he took over at Hull City and had a prolific season when Hull won the league one championship .
Wilks probably should have played at a consistent higher level in my opinion because he's got the footballing talent , the head is a different matter mind .
He comes from a very troubled family growing up in Leeds , he witnessed his brother getting murdered over a drug deal that went wrong when he was a kid .
Whilst at Leeds United he was part of a group that stabbed a young lad to death at the Leeds carnival and stood trial although he was found not guilty after a lengthy trial .
It might go someway to explain why he's a difficult player to manage despite his talent .
I was gutted we couldn't get a consistent tune out of him at Oakwell , that performance from Wilks on the opening day of the season against a very good Fulham team was something I'll never forget , he was bloody brilliant that day , pace , power and the ability to go past people .
Oh well .
