According to some reports they have upped their bid to fif**** million pounds and that we have rejected it. You just do not know what to believe! Have to wait until 11 pm.

We've fought off interest over Fellows before and whilst we cannot do so indefinitely, just hope we can do so again. At least TM has name checked him several times which would indicate a desire to keep hold of him.

I can understand Palmer wanting a chance to play in the Premiership (though Ipswich is not an obvious choice!) and the fee of £5m that I've seen banded about plus having Griffith to come back in may help soften the blow of his loss. Similarly, if TM prefers Wallace and Swift to him or only sees him playing when Johnston isnt, then I can understand Grant's frustration.

The issue is that we are trying to rebuild so you would have thought the aim would be to retain our better players and off load the poorer ones whilst we seek to add younger, quality, ones to the squad. Losing Palmer is far from ideal and if we were to lose Grant as well that would be bad enough but if Fellows departs in addition then -if not actual despair-there will certainly be lots of questions asked by concerned fans. All this rather takes the shine off any new players we may be able to bring in doesn't it?

Good deal for Alex Palmer 3.5 year deal plus his signing on fee .
He has been loyal and waited a long time for his Ist team place .
Would rather he stayed but was too good a deal to turn down .
    Good luck Alex .

I must admit that if we got offered ?15m for Fellows then that could be good business. Over the last few months Tom has become a bit of a one trick pony and apart from his stepover down the outside of the full back, his overall game has gone a bit stale. Like Diangana, he does get muscled off the ball far too easy at times as well. Whatever transpires, if he leaves the club, I wish him good luck in the future.

All this makes me angry, selling Palmer is bad enough but if we let Fellows go too, it will be outrageous. They are two of the best players that we have had for years and we let them go; so much for building a team for the future. Does Patel know what he’s doing? Lai was a total disaster but I now wonder if the present owner has a clue about what he is doing.

Palmer could well be back in the Championship next season. I would guess there s a clause in his contract re: salary and relegation. I am unsure whether long term it is a good move going to Ipswich.

That said, best of luck to him. I am sorry he has gone.

And now I’m off to bed, heavy day tomorrow.

I can understand him wanting to go to a Premiership club, but Ipswich? There is more than a fair chance that he will be back in the Championship next season. As I said before, it must have been a good financial deal.

Albion hopeful of very late Adam Armstrong loan deal.
Now that would be a tremendous piece of business, proper goal scorer
