I cannot believe people wouldn?t want the man back that :

Turned Langstaff from a non league footballer to a championship footballer

    Same with Rodrigues

    Amongst many more things.
Williams is a perfect fit for the owners and the club, but we played so badly towards him leaving because the players obviously knew his heart wasn't in it anymore and sure while part of that is on them, I do not want that for the club again.

There are plenty of other managers who could do similar things, I just don't believe that someone who has consistently been open about wanting to leave multiple clubs within a year is a secure fit for the future.

I dont really buy into the Williams left/will leave at the first opportunity narrative.

While with us he was linked with Portsmouth, then signed a new contract. He was also linked with Bradford and came out and said he was fully committed to Notts in post match interviews, so boxed that off pretty quickly.

He lives in Swansea, and for family reasons alone, the move made sense, even though it was frustrating...

The WBA drama while at Swansea probably does have some legs... but if he did come back to Notts I imagine it will probably humble him a bit.

I'd have him back, as long as he bought a house here haha!

Yeah, if he lives in Swansea, and distance is an issue for him, he should seek employment in the Swansea area

It's not too much to ask that the manager of the great Notts County is prepared to live in the Nottingham area

Strong stuff KC, so do you think the city is working against us in recruiting and keeping players and managers?

I don't really care that he left for Swansea, the thing I made a point of is that in under a year he did try to leave for WBA after joining them, it's not a great look.

Do some football supporters never leave a job for promotion or a pay rise? Managers and players are just employees, we can't project supporters' emotions on to them.

    I'd welcome him back.

All the stuff about Allardyce, people should maybe think they've only ever heard one person's version of events. Doesnt mean it's the whole truth....

It's weird isn't it... why are managers expected to show endless "loyalty" to their club when the first whiff of failure they'll be unceremoniously dumped?

Not to mention getting a new job higher up the pyramid while you're on contract means your club gets a payout, generally, instead of having to pay you out when they sack you.

In my career I mostly advanced by changing jobs/organisations, it's only a fast growing company that usually has room for promotions within. Unless you're willing to wait years? Maybe everyone on this board worked a different industry...

    I find it incredible.

Leaving aside the debate about whether Williams is the right man or not, we should seek to appoint the best candidate out there for the job. If they do well, whoever they are, there's a good chance they will get head-hunted by a bigger club and move on at some point. In the meantime we get the benefit of whatever progress they make.

I can't believe so many grown adults seem to expect professional football people to show undying loyalty to a club and turn down better opportunities. It's a business, not a love story. We've poached managers ourselves. The only thing that matters is will they improve us while they're here?

Exactly. Loyalty is a load of *******s.
