Watching Curzon Ashton v S****horpe, with Cal Roberts and Jimmy Spencer sharing the pitch on opposing sides.

It may just be nostalgia but I seem to remember Spencer being some player for notts in the half season he got before his injury.

I thought Jimmy Spencer was a good traditional target man who held the ball up very well and was capable of being a good league two/one striker. His record was decent at the end of the 13/14 season when he came in from memory. I also think that he would have given much more had he not suffered the knee ligament injury he did away at Arnold Town in pre-season which kept him out for most of the 14/15 season.

Still struggling with the fact Roberts is playing in the NLN.

There's no doubt about his talent when he wants to use it, but there is clearly something wrong either with his mental state or his overall attitude, as demonstrated during his time at Newcastle and at Notts

To drop from the SPL to NLN like Cal has suggests there is sadly more to it. I don't think he has confidence in his body to do it at a decent level any more. Hamstring injuries have ruined his career.

He must rue the move to Aberdeen, even though you couldn't really blame him for taking the opportunity at the time.

Although I did get the impression that Williams was struggling to figure out how best to fit Roberts into our playing system and the move removed that as an issue.

Roberts was unplayable during that first few weeks before Covid hit. He was still good when he came back from injury but sadly he seemed to lose a bit of pace and wasn't quite the same player. A real shame.

An in form Cal Roberts in the current side would be frightening.. JJ on one wing and Cal on the other…

And the tw@t that did it bragged about it in the pubs in Arnold afterwards.

Nothing special from what I saw, although I only watched the second half. Scunny dominated the game but the quality was very poor
