Hmmm...not sure the Lib Dems are the story here, AF. The swing is enormous although the majority is now slim so both seats may be vulnerable at the next GE. For me though, the real story is that of a largely Tory inclined electorate recognising two morally bankrupt candidates as being accurately representative of a Party who, since 2019 at least, have proved as incompetent as they are devoid of decency.

Agree a lot will be down to Tory voters staying away but how long can they keep getting trounced without calling an election. They have lost credibility, hold an election and if somehow they win so be it, at least it gives them a mandate to govern.

Regrettably I think you are right, however, they are clearly losing hope.

Problem is that Labour's policies hardly deviate from the Tory ones on so many things. IMO, anybody expecting a more social society under Starmer would be extremely disappointed.

We just need change i think, I think Starmer is a good man just have my doubts in his ability to be a strong PM, I keep getting John Major vibes I dunno.

I've said it before and still believe Rayner would make a better leader.

Is it just my perception, the fact that actions are more closely recorded and scrutinised these days or just the ‘quality’ (or otherwise) of MP’s in this day and age that makes me think that the behaviour of our Parliamentary representatives has reached an almost daily new low?

I see it as a parallel universe rA - those in the media spotlight are judged by an imagined new set of benchmarks that most of the population (of the world but let’s just stick to U.K. for now) are getting nowhere near and for the most part not even trying to. In this particular case his words are not just illegal but futile, BUT the lines of argument thereafter get very VERY complex. Not sure we want to go there again after previous skirmishes on here
