Anyone know anything about Solberg
A head coach who got demoted to manage an U19s team.
His whole career has been spent at a club that usually plays in the Swedish 2nd tier, sometimes 3rd tier (struggling in the 1st tier on the rare occasions they've got that high),. He was demoted around the time they got relegated out of the top tier 2023. The averaged 3,257 last season.
Presumably somebody on a wind up.
We need to get this appointment right. Ive never heard of this guy, and from the outside it would look to be a very underwhelming appointment, if thats the case. Division 2 is not the place for these type of guys.. As SM found out...
Like I said when Joao Alves was favourite, this isn't the time for an experimental appointment.
Fans were generally tolerant and gave the comparatively unknown Stuart Maynard every chance because the comparatively unknown Luke Williams had previously proven to be a great call, but the outcome of the Maynard experiment was disappointing, as proven by his dismissal, so now is a time to select a recognised name with a solid record.
We're not in Trew/Fullarton territory by any means - the owners still have plenty of credit in the bank with most fans - but putting an Alves or a Solberg in charge at this moment would indeed be underwhelming, to say the least, and would put either of them under pressure from day one. It's a moment to go with an appointment that's sensible and demonstrably sound.
The issue we have is we all probably ideally want a leader with ability and fairly recent league promotions, the issue with that there?s very few from a statistically point of view and also probably most of them have are working a level or two above now.
If we want a manager with more success than failure on their CV then like any other club we will have to look down not up and there?s the issue, below is non league or foreign leagues and there?s the issue for many fans.
