Perhaps I’ve got it wrong here but wouldn’t the only ones to be infected after everybody else has been vaccinated be those unvaccinated?

Not necessarily, once the vaccination program is completed the chances are that R would be below 0.1 and so the unvaccinated would be very unlucky to contract the virus, so in effect, they would have considerable protection by default.

My good lady was given the 17th of Jan as her covid jab date. She's just texted me from work and said she's just been jabanated ( I quite like that ) today, so hopefully, they are speeding things up. Mind you, if she hadn't brought it home in the bloody first place!

Never fear, jabination is here. I'd spent a fortune kitting out that shed but I suppose she can move back in now.

Only if the vaccines are 100% effective, which they aren't.

Do they need to be 100% effective? Most quotes are for a 90% or 95% protection and what about the R number? If that gets and stays below 1, which it will when most people are vaccinated, then the spread will reduce as fewer and fewer people become infected. There will always be people who, for various reasons, will refuse to have "chemicals" injected into their body but as the percentage of the general population who have been vaccinated gradually outnumber (and outlive) them the virus will die out.

A fairly scathing appraisal of the handling of the virus from someone who a lot of this government's supporters on here respect.

Ironic in a way that the reason we have a government made up of low grade people in the first place is because they were selected on Brexit loyalty rather than competence, but it's always quite nice to see people break with political trench warfare and call it as they see it.
