John Bostocks’ finishes in June

I know he loves it here so unless we make a pig's ear of the new appointment hopefully he will stay if he's offered a new contract
Apparently there are a huge number of people interested in the job
Usually a new manager has to come in on a rescue and recovery mission

I think people are getting over excited in the absence of news.

Remember summer of 2022? Our new manager was a nobody, the apparently irreplaceable Kyle Wootton and Cal Roberts had left us and we'd bought a pair of 6th tier nobodys to fill that gap and it was unclear how we were going to ever accomplish anything ever again.

Luke leaving is not what we wanted, but it happens and it shows joining us can be a pathway to bigger things for up and coming players and managers.

Last couple of decades we've been a club where you might come to steal a last payday if you were past it.

If he leaves, chances are we will recruit another good manager. If Macca leaves in summer, chances are we will recruit another good striker. The plan is to be like a lower league Brighton, where players and managers come and go but we profit and get gradually better in the meantime.

I know this is really boring but my plan of action is wait and see what happens. If we have a massive drop off in form I'll get down about it. Until then I'm cautiously optimistic.

I suspect our long term plan is to be a Brighton.

Hopefully we can get someone who can sort the defence out, and not keep talking about it every time we lose.. I think with LW it was a case of him being in the right place, with the right people at the right time...

“The high-profile nature of our achievements since Luke’s arrival 18 months ago, coupled with the immense respect he holds within the game, mean it’s come as no surprise that he’s attracted interest from higher in the pyramid. Our focus now has to be on finding a new head coach to build on the excellent foundations he’s laid.

But it is somewhat a surprise to me that he's taken the bait. I'm sure the decision wasn't easy and I fear that there's an element that he did not see us in League 1 next season.

Taken the edge a bit off my admiration for him despite his achievement at getting us out of the NL. Was hoping for another Sirrel or at least a Warnock. Now more of a Cotteril or Fat Sam (without the dishonesty).

Ah well - as someone once said "We are Notts County, we move on". But never a dull moment to add to our ever strained stress levels just when we were starting to relax.

C'mon BROS, do your stuff.
