A fair effort in the second innings, but the cowardly surrender in the first defined the game.

Hopefully Middles ex and Northants will continue to be worse than us.

As you imply, Elite, let us hope that there are 2 sides worse than Notts in this league to enable them to secure a place in division 1 for next season. 4 games left of which 2 are against Kent and 1 v Middle***. Both teams are currently below Notts in the table so Notts’ fate is v much in their own hands, even allowing for the fact that the teams below them have game(s) in hand. I think they should have enough character to see the job through and, if not, they get exactly what they deserve.

Can't say I'm keen on this interrupted County Championship, but I suppose the one day games bring in the cash. We are at home to Kent on Tuesday, then have no games in this format until we go there on 10th September.

Frustrating that we didn't see out the overs yesterday, today has been awful here and I don't think a ball would have been bowled.

Well done Notts. Pleased that they first put to bed any notion Kent had of winning the game, due to some fine batting, and then wrapped up an easier than expected victory, with a fantastic bowling display. We should be safe from relegation now.

Good to see the club is also going through a much needed transition from relying on the old guard too much, to having belief in the younger players, with some good looking signings too. Lets hope we get to see a fair bit of Tongue next season, (ooh err missus).

Excellent win, but I thought we batted on a bit too long. Once we got a lead of 350 Kent wouldn't have chased it. Didn't matter in the end, once they had lost 3 wickets before lunch Kent just seemed to give up.

I think Mullaney was thinking about the Middle*** game where we got burnt for being to generous with our declaration. Kent were very poor though.

Now the number of points for a draw have been reduced, I see it a bit like football where win two, draw two, lose two gets you 8 points, but if you win three and lose three it gets you 9 points.

Fair point EP unless the opponent you are risking the win/loss, is in direct competition with you for league positioning. We certainly couldn't afford to lose to Kent today, and a draw against Middles*x earlier in the season would have seen us safe earlier, I think.

A strange game, but a great result. It looked a perfect batting pitch when we reached 171/1 and a 300+ score should have been the target. Instead we collapsed to 237 all out. An admittedly weak Ess ex side were far worse, and only managed a pathetic 69 in reply.
