He's had 18 months of mens football. Loans at Airdrie, Cove and then a few months in and out at United.

Still has 2 years on his contract. He should just relax and take this season as it comes. He has bags of potential. If he is loaned out, fair enough but I think he'll be a big player for us, whether its now or in the future.

Smith deserves a shot to get an opportunity in the prem, he's been apart of 2championship winning sides and a team who was in a title race for a long time before falling away. he deserves a chance to see if he can be a prem defender.

I think he might struggle against certain teams with real quality but in general i think he will be steady enough. still fairly young and time to improve. We need guys like Smith, guys who will be steady without being spectacular or terrible.

Not saying he's definitely going to make it, but we won't find out until he's given a proper chance, which should have been last season in the diddy league instead of being put out on loan again. Even the clown before the last clown saw he had real talent
Who's writing him off after one game vs Arbroath?
Cove fans love him, and rightly so, but that means nothing in terms of him being ready for The Premiership.
Like I say, if he's not going to feature much this season, he'd benefit from going out on loan to a level higher than where he's been previously. Boys like him need game time. I'm sure the manager will know what's best for him.

I hope he does. The last one certainly didn't.

Yeah agree with that now. Good option to have for both positions however, and it means we have adequate cover in both areas with Smith/Bolton/Freeman at RB and Bolton/McMullan at RM.

Based on what though? I didn't see anything to suggest he was ready for regular game time. We needed our best 11 on the park every game and imo he wasn't part of the best 11. This isn't a slant on Glass, he just wasn't quite ready in my opinion. He didn't do enough when called upon to convince me otherwise either.
Its a big ask asking a kid whose only had two 6 month lower league loan spells to jump from League Two football straight into a Championship title fight. It'll be even bigger to ask him to then make yet another step up into a Premiership survival fight/bid for top six (whatever it turns out to be).

I agree, we can't be playing young lads for the sake of it, they need to earn their minutes on the pitch at our club.
