It's becoming clear that Truss is an absolute idiot. As you say God help us when she becomes PM.

I actually can't stand Truss. For one she's a liar, I'm from Leeds and Roundhay is pretty much the nicest area here. She certainly didn't come up hard as she likes to portray. There was certainly no red wall she speaks of. She lied about regional levels of pay by saying everyone had 'misunderstood' her. She has no real understanding about the cost of living crises for lower income families (which coming from the mean streets of Roundhay is surprising........) No need for help, she's just going to stop the green energy payments (about £150 a year, thanks Liz) and cut taxes which doesn't affect alot of the people who need help whilst also not really helping those it does effect. Instead she's going to 'unleash Britain potential' **** me that's sorted then, no need to worry........

Ya gotta laugh. We are dealing with crises by putting lunatics in charge of asylums.

BTW: If anybody's interested in the political zeitgeist in the USA, I read a fine book recently called "What's the Matter with Kansas?" by Thomas Frank. Be afraid, be very afraid!

I'll check that out mate thanks. Yeah it's not looking good, like Liz when she said she'll deal with Nicola Sturgeon by ignoring her whilst calling her an attention seeker. What leader with even half a brain would even say that. Nevermind we shall see what happens!

With regards to the SNP, it seems that Truss will be another "dream come true" for their recruitment campaign.

Sorry to offer an alternative viewpoint to you again, but has the climate change theory been proved wrong yet? My gut feeling is that it's genuine, based mainly on the changes I've seen in my lifetime. Even if it isn't true, out of respect for future generations shouldn't we err on the side of caution? I'd rather my grandkids and their kids look back and think we did too much rather than too little.

I agree with you totally. The changes we have seen are clear.

I was unsure at one time about climate change so I did some basic reading. I now understand how the greenhouse effect works, how it's caused by CO2 emissions and other gasses etc.

A big concern is that the countries most causing climate change are the least affected, while many countries, e.g. In Africa are severely being impacted but their emissions are minimal.

The Met Office website has a very simple guide to climate change. Hardly a controversial site, seems pretty factual to me

Climate Change is a Theory not because people don't really have a clue and have just picked that and are waiting for something better to come along. In science a Theory differs from a scientific fact or scientific law in that a theory explains "why" or "how": a fact is a simple, basic observation, whereas a law is a statement (often a mathematical equation) about a relationship between facts. For example, Newton’s Law of Gravity is a mathematical equation that can be used to predict the attraction between bodies, but it is not a theory to explain how gravity works.

Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts.
