Leicestershire’s 18 year old Rehan Ahmed called up as cover for Moeen at Lords. May well not play, but very brave move if he does.

What's he done? Not a player I'm familiar with

After all the Edgbaston excitement it’s been a disappointing one and a half sessions from England. All looking strangely lacklustre. Seemed like an important toss to win but at the moment Smith and Labushagne look like they could play this attack in their sleep.

My primary thoughts today have so far been directed at considering if Johnny Bairstow could catch cricket balls as well as he can catch JSO protesters, we might be one up in the series, bot one down.

Dreadful stuff from our bowlers, quality batting from the Aussies! Ashes looking lost already!

Bad day, mac. Men against boys today and a question mark over whether Pope will be fit to bat too.
Best we can hope for from this one, even at this early stage, is a draw...and as I say that Root takes two in an over!
Too little too late methinks...hopefully the weather (or JSO) might save us.

Trying to remain positive, if we nick out their 5 wickets and they have less than 400 then there is a faint hope! Highly unlikely based on today's bowling performance but one has to hang on to small hopes! Jimmy is looking a spent force and Stokes knee won't let him produce those special deliveries, not looking good.

316-3 becomes 416 all out. An acceptable development but need the clouds to go away now and a decent England batting performance to get back into it

Surprisingly England haven't declared to give Australia a tricky 2 over period before lunch....
