The irony is brilliant, but so lost in them.

The story told in today's Sentinel is truly horrifying, and will haunt Byron and his mum forever.

In retrospect, his move has made good sense, because he will be a lot closer to home, where his presence will be desperately needed.

    Everything else is entirely irrelevant.

I don't think where he plays has any bearing on what happened the day he signed for Vale.

The day will remain memorable for all the wrong reasons - nobody can imagine what he is going through. Hopefully time will heal.

Reading an article from the Sentinel today, I see that Byron was only offered a one year deal to remain at the Alex. I have always liked this player and feel that perhaps, if Byron had been offered a longer contract, he may just have remained an Alex player. We may well rue the day that he left us for pastures new, especially if the team struggles once again this season. I am puzzled that the club offered a three year deal to a lad who has not yet arrived at this level (Max), yet offer a deal to Byron that he can only refuse. I know that they had to offer Max something for tribunal purposes, but three years on an unproven player is way too much.

    How did he fare today?
Always pleased to see an ex-player return and get substituted in a losing cause.
Doesn't happen too often to us

Thankfully Byron did not play too well today and Guthrie had the better of him. Mind you, it could not have helped that he was booed every time he touched the ball. As I said before, the guy was a good servant for the Alex and I hope that he prospers at his new club (even though they are our rivals).

Thought the booing of BM was pretty disgusting imo. Really no need for that and a lot coming from the main stand as well.

He did play like he used to for us. Good in patches but no end product.
