Dario also took us to Wembley twice, gave us eight or nine seasons in the Championship, won promotion several times and produced at least six players who became full England Internationals.
It will take one hell of a manager to equal that success

And I never said you weren't worthy, nor questioned your support of the Alex. I called you out on personal attacks against a poster, irrelevant of what your debate was about. You've got an attitude problem and have demonstrated it again and again - don't blame me.

Always been a classy bird this one.

The mere suggestion that Steve had lost the plot was wrong then and wrong now – but we never see those screaming at the time eating humble pie now!
But why is that? – are they unmoved?
If so, then why are they still not screaming from the rooftops? – lost their voices?
I caught a bit of the Newcastle game last night and I thought it slightly odd that there seemed to none of those “Pardew Out” banners that had been so prevalent in previous matches.
Are we saying that wins at WHL and the Etihad have appeased the natives? – I very much doubt it, so my point is if you wanted him out then, why not maintain your protest now, if only to show a bit of consistency?
Or are they having a re-think?
I took my first look at sackpardew.com last night too – a very slick piece of
I think that following the 3 game winning sequence (the first time that has happened in 2 and a half years), it is natural that some supporters clambering for the Head of SD will calm down somewhat and see how things progress. I for one, was not calling for the removal of SD before that winning run and missed it completely as we were away on our holidays. However, I understand the frustration of the fans prior to our upsurge in form, as we were pretty dire in those opening games and had some awful home thrashings. I came away from Saturday's encounter feeling pretty pleased with the effort from the players and thought that for once I had seen an entertaining game, that was not all one sided. Best performance of the season for me, even though we lost.

Very sad, but alas not unique to Crewe!
But it's not very big of them either just to say nothing at all. We have quite a few on here, they know who they are, (*WE* know who they are!), but what kind of lives must they lead when all they want to do is moan when we are struggling but cannot find it in themselves to praise when we don't??
Even examples on this board today!!
I refer back to Newcastle - and sackpardew.com!
Well, well, well, I see they've added an update at last, and how magnanimous of them ...
"So he’s done it. Alan Pardew has turned the Newcastle United ship around" describing a "turgid" win over a "dire Leicester side", and a "spirited fight back against a lethargic Spurs"
Not dissimilar to our own "fans" - when we win, the oppositio
I've been for and against SD this season
Although its human nature to moan when things are going wrong and vice versa when things are better, its not a reluctance to come and say so in my humble opinion, its just there is not a lot you can say when we win is there. Good game, so and so played well and keep it up lads. When we lose its a post mortem from the manager to each player and why subs were not brought on and what they all had for breakfast!![]()
Although we are still bottom of the league, its good to see and hear the team are in the games more now and all the players seem to be competing and wanting to win and that is reflecting the scores now. Even if we stay there which I don't think we will, then fans will accept that more than being rolled over as we were in many games.
I even think the academy lads seem to be doing well at such tender ages and that's brilliant as well which will give them all encouragement they can get into the team earlier than even they thoug
I only see the home games these days (and the odd local away one). I don't think Steve would expect to be exempt from criticism following the abject displays against Rochdale (twice), Colchester and Notts County.
I use the word 'display' advisedly because the performances upset me more than the results - it's right that the fans call the management and the players to account as long as it's not abusive though as I think I stated earlier I don't like the title of this thread.
It continues to disturb me that we appear not to be ready when the season starts, it's a recurring theme and I suspect the manager was shocked because there were noises of quiet confidence emanating from the camp before the off - he stated he was happy with the defensive cover which was clearly an error and I suspect the expectation was that Harry would be back sooner than proved to be the case. Lest we forget, we're still bottom...
However, I expect us to continue to improve now - I was n't there but yesterday
Not hiding away, Somerset. And not taking back anything I said at the time either. Steve was beginning to fray around the edges, and looked as though he might be losing the dressing room as the bad results piled up. He could have been teetering on the brink.
But he was lucky to have the support of the most patient and tolerant Chairman there is, in John Bowler. Who, if he can't do anything about some of the directors he's landed with, at least can stick up for the manager.
When you compare him to the 'manager-eating' owner of Leeds United, it's refreshing to see. Incidentally, there seemed to be uncertainty on Jeff Stelling's news programme as to whether Redfearn had been awarded a rolling contract of one year... or three WEEKS!
One thing that's permanent in Steve is class and generosity in what he says about his fellow managers. To be reminded of tbis, take a look at the BBC website report of the Crawley result. Here we find Gregory indulging in a long, self-pitying rant about the
