Shades of last season....3 points gone begging. We seemed unlucky at times but we cannot rely on luck. After this, Kj"s comments should be interesting. Now, fully gutted, I'm off to my bed.

P.S. Hope you're feeling better soon, Plates !

I've not heard or seen any of the game due to work and I've only read a few of the messageboards on fb and just read this thread. But I gather there's a few fans agreeing with me that the narrow midfield diamond doesn't work and Philips ran riot down the right this evening.

Great for 30 minutes, thereafter QPR bossed it. Hugely disappointing..

Really the difference was two players in Austin and Phillips who QPR will be lucky to hold on to, and most will have seen the pair. Apart from our defence. First goal Phillips given too much space to cross and Austin bulleting a header with Hause a bystander. Second Phillips again given space and a slow motion goal, third a slip by Hause (?), should've been saved.

I do think Hause has the potential to be a good ball-playing centre-back but for me he's a season or so away from it. I don't know how far Danny is from returning but, and I've said this many times before, we need an experienced CB to play alongside Stears.

And as others have said, I really don't get this 'narrow' formation thing and I'm not sure the players do either. If Stale had come up with this he'd have been crucified. There's a lot of work to do but I haven't seen anything yet to make me question my end of season prediction. I really hope I

After sleeping for five hours I awoke to discover that last night's performance was not a nasty dream, but, in reality, a bluddy nightmare. Listening to a radio commentary doesn't always provide a true account of what is happening on the park, but if last nights 'call' was anything to go by then others will be feeling as dumbfounded as I do at this minute. For the first thirty minutes or so we, the listeners, were told that Wolves were playing superbly, in a manner not seen at the Mol' for several years. QPR were being run ragged and the two goal lead we'd established was testimony to a one-sided contest. More than 10,000 miles away, the elation I felt was indescribable. Then, somehow, Austin scored for Q.P.R. and, as if on cue, Wolves confidence began to crumble and my old familiar nervousness returned. In the end, it was a performance that will have left many feeling numb (including the team I shouldn't wonder). It now seems KJ may need to have a rethink.

I pretty much agree with all you said there, Grizzled. The system seems to be very labour intensive and I am not surprised by the lack of 'legs' towards the end. The style of play seems to exclude Dicko on occasions. He seemed to be putting the effort in when called for, but chasing shadows far too often. Him and Afobe should be complimenting each other, but there seems to be too much emphasis on feeding Afobe to the detriment of Dicko. Edwards worked his socks off but he seems to be covering far too much ground trying to support everything on the left and in midfield as well. Henry seemed to be missing a lot of the time. His involvement in passing moves was excellent, but there was very little of the killer ball as he was frequently overrun by Iorfa's enthusiasm.

McDonald was excellent, as was his superbly struck goal and, although Coady had a quieter game than on Sunday, he was involved in quite a lot of the play. Maybe it will not be one of his better games this season but

Wolves looked good going forward and played some breathtaking football, and going 2-0 up was just reward. Afobe again was out the blocks quick as with the Hull game. He took his goal well and showed quick feet to react. Second goal and McDonald deserved it and the finish for his all round play in the first half.

The writing was on the wall for me as soon as you have players standing off the likes of Phillips. He's good with both feet and comfortable at cutting inside. I thought Austin's header was quality, but the cross should never have got that far if the winger was put under pressure.

As soon as QPR pulled the goal back, the writing was on the wall for me. People will point to the keeper and the second and third goal. He fumbled two routine saves early in the half, including the one he juggled and also dropped over the line.

The substitution of Dicko was surprising and only now i know it was tactical. He puts himself about and there's always a goal in him. Le Fondre didn't

It makes you wonder how fit we are because we wilted for the last half hour against Hull just as we did against QPR or is it that the two relegated teams showed the different pace between the divisions. In that last half hour they were two yards quicker than us to the ball and in the sprint with the ball. Actually if Afobe had taken his chances we could have had a couple more but in the end the result was probably right.
