    re: Mel buys the Rams

Wristslasher I've just seen a few clips from MMs interviews, albeit RamsPlayer and its 'house' bias, but I must say, what a clever, clever ********* MM is. You don't get £500+ million on your portfolio without being a clever, clever *********.

    We're in safe hands.

Anybody who has any doubts about MM as owner just needs to buy into Ramsplayer & watch the full video. A brief resume:

    1. As Wristslasher says, this guy is very astute, articulate, grounded, and has a vision for Derby County. He's not just a fan with cash. He is a top executive with vision who loves the Club.

    2. He says he has a 3 year plan and he is 14 months into it. It started at the last play-off final.

    3. He knows his role: it is to be the Club's de-stressor. he says he was involved before {2008) and learned a lot from his experience. He is now of the firm view that emotion will be kept out of it. He is aware that many have said "will his heart rule his head?".

    4. The astute amo

Good luck to him and I sincerely hope it works out and he realises his dream (and our dream) to be back in the Premier League, where we belong AND to stay there as a successful club for many years to come.

Good stuff Ella, one of the most informative and enlightening reactions there's been today.
After all that's happened to Derby in the last few years you can't blame people, including me, from having slight misgivings but your comments and 'take' on things are genuinely encouraging and reassuring.

Just back from work band have been reading through this thread, I've got to say post 42, 43, 44 are the funniest things I've read in ages!!! Seriously, had me holding on to the ragged edge!!! After a crap day at work I really needed that, thanks wristslasher, brilliant.
On topic, I like the idea of local ownership, but like a lot of fans, I brought into the philosophy of the american consortium and for me, I just prefer that way. In fairness to MM though, he does talk a good game. His long term vision for the club, especially the academy, does give me confidence. Hopefully this summers heavy spending is just a push start to us becoming an established prem club that's able to sustain itself, hopefully with as little debt as possible. But I think we really need to gain promotion by next season latest, or the wheels may well fall off.

Good point...it's exactly that: Derby County have bought players who are good enough to keep us in the Prem once there. That's a specific part of the discussion ...
