Thought BPF was the substitute keeper last weekend?

Makes two of us then, doesn't it?
I asked, what is the difference between the situation we now have, with Wiedwald as No.1, Lonnergan a distant No. 2 and BPF not even being considered for 1st team duties, and what WOULD have been had Green been retained, bring in Wiedwald, leave Lonnergan on loan, with BPF continuing to "develop"? We have 3 GKs, with one being the No.1 in everything but club announcement (which I suspect Green didn't ask for!), and we WOULD have had 3 GKs with one as No. 1, spot the difference?
GL is the one position where it is possible to give guarantees, and also one position where being in your mid-thirties is actually a benefit (look around the teams and see what the age profile is). Outfield players can be asked to play just about anywhere (look at how Berardi has been pulled here there and everywhere), GK is between the sticks, not much positional "variety" expected!
Anyway, we are never going to agree, its all hypothetical, and a lose-lose situation hs resulted, where club and player are worse off than they would have been.
Thought BPF was the substitute keeper last weekend?
33 games in and he gets on the bench?? He's no real "threat" to Wiedwald
As I say, had Green been retained, given No.1, then Wiedwald would have known what he would be expected to deliver, and if he showed potential, the 1-year I suggested that Green should be given would have allowed him to develop. As it is, whether he has the potential or not, he will (ought to) be gone in the summer and any potential he may have will be lost, at least to Leeds.
There was no real reason for the club to do what it did, and taking the course of action they did has resulted in us being at least 9 points fewer than had the flappy mistakes not happened. Would Green have been without mistakes? Who knows, but we won't find out now, will we?
Anyway as I said in post #61, old story, no agreement, move on
Your recollection is a little bit mixed up. Lonergan was an emergency signing, only pursued after Green had decided to leave.
No-one said Felix was signed as a first choice keeper. However his arrival ( from his viewpoint) was timely as Green was injured so was able to make his case straight away. When Green returned from injury, perhaps Green was not showing TC enough to dislodge WW as first choice. ( Think Green more or less missed preseason and was only available for a couple of first team outings).
Green could have stayed and proved that he should be this season's number 1 but he didn't.
BPF imo has either been let down by the club or let himself down by not going out on loan. I think there must be questions mark by the club about his ability as he has not yet been able to establish himself as the second choice. Robinson & Carson were both under 20 when they did.
3 games in? can't legislate for TC's 30 games [I know, I know - you will reitterate your ongoing Orta is picking the team theme] The new coach has had a chance to look at his players now and possibly has decide that Lonergan isn't the aternative no?
F ecks sake give him a chance?
FW has saved us points too but that seems to get lost in the final reckoning. As was said above, maybe he wasn’t intended to be first choice this season but to grow into it. Is he perfect, no; is he improving, yes; will he get better still, looks like it; have we had a stable back 4 in front of him, no.
green played in front of a very good stable back 4 (so good they had there own song) for much of last season, if Felix had the same luxury sure it would have been easier for him.
Wasn't my point. If Heckingbottom decides to use BPF, so be it, and I hope the lad proves to be at least as good at Lonnergan & Wielwald (wouldn't be very hard), but my point was that the decision not to give Green what he wanted, for a season, resulted in us having no quality keeper at all, whether first choice, second choice or whatever.
Anyway, he's gone, it won't change, and we obviously wont agree, so I'll drop it if everyone else does (BB included)
most of em on here dont go , half of em are not even in the same country , that is the few that are left posting on here. lol
leeds is merely a passing interest , not a passion , if you were shelling out every week it would be a different story.
