Who is at Barnsley Police Station though ?
South Yorkshire Police say a man who was arrested in connection to the alleged altercation involving Fleetwood Town boss Joey Barton and Barnsley head coach Daniel Stendel has been bailed until May.
They would neither confirm or deny whether that man was Barton but have issued an update on their investigation into an incident that saw Stendel reportedly needing emergency dental treatment in the wake of their 4-2 win on Saturday.
The police would not release an age of the man they arrested and bailed but they did confirm that the arrest relates to the alleged tunnel incident.
They released the following statement: "A man arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated public order offence and racially aggravated assault, in connection to an incident at Barnsley Football Club on Saturday 13 April, has been bailed until next month.
"We would ask members of the media and the public to refrain from speculation in relation to this incident, as it could potentially harm the investigation.
"Officers investigating the incident would be keen to speak to anyone who may have caught the incident on camera or who may have mobile phone footage immediately before or after the incident occurred.
"If you think you can help, please call 101 quoting incident number 326 of 13 April 2019."
Both clubs are assisting with the police investigation, while Barnsley have also lodged a formal complaint with the EFL and the FA.
Joey Barton smashed Barnsley manager in the face. Knocked him out, blood everywhere then skulked back to his dressing room like the coward he is.
Both sets of players from both teams saw it.... everyone speaks in football you have premier league lads mates with lads on both teams it all gets back eventually
..... so I’ve heard![]()
Bailed until May
This may be going to be one of them that the CPS will “decline to process” They will duck out and let the so called “Football Authorities” deal with it.
The Racial bit is a bit of a tasty one for all involved on the disciplinary side of this issue.........
At the top of the EFL, and FA’s agenda. This will now have become massive in their domain, as a chance to “Come down hard on an alleged racist” Rather than “Come down hard on an “alleged” violent thug.
The only thing better from the FA and EFL’s point of view would be if after “Allegedly” smashing a German in the face, he had strangled him with a rainbow pair of laces and called him an homophobic name.....
He’d have been sine die by now ..........
The authorities care more about promoting “Equality, amd Diversity than ensuring fair play, or Vioent conduct”
if it’s the referee who has control until the dressing room, then his visual evidence will be crucial...............because he surely will have been watching........ Won’t he?
Tha can bet if this edda been two Premier League managers with a sprinkle of alleged racism thrown in the media wud be all ovva like a rash.
Wots all this abart the SYPD asking the media and public not to speculate?![]()
