I think it was Sota who compared this site to meeting up with a few mates in the pub and being able to talk about football or anything else for that matter. That's a big part of why this site continues to work. (Mind you, we might actually be a load of Billy no-mates who don't get invited to the pub and have to make do wi' this!)
I'd also say, at a guess, that probably more than half on here don't actually live in Rotherham but need to feel part of a tribe and, in some ways, this is a better way of getting that feeling than being on social media. (A bit like the Cheers TV show, really - the pub where everybody knows your name...)
We are all a bit older and have a common memory of a town, and a particular Yorkshire culture, that has in many ways disappeared. MM and the people on it remind us of that and it's not a disagreeable way to spend some time.
