I think in the current financial climate it is difficult to raise funds and gain extra investment. The electronic advertising boards are all well and good provided that we are on TV regularly. The BBC draughted in electronic advertising for our live FA cup tie against Chelsea, a one off. It kind of tells a story doesn't it.

I think sometimes life and business is about survival, especially through difficult times such as these where every football club (apart from PL clubs)and businesses in general are on the bones of their arses post pandemic. Tha rides the storm art best tha can then the investment or potential riches can come to the fore in better times.

Based on your analogy- I wouldn't personally go on holiday (as much as I'd love to) with money that I was unsure I could pay back. Tha just guz wi art.

Going on what Animal said, it would greatly disappoint me as well if the club did go back to 'normal' again.
Would we all just accept that and enjoy being able to survive each season, and would we just look at that as a continued great achievement.
For me, last season showed what we might be capable of a bit more regularly, with proper sensible backing and yes a fair bit of luck as well.
We aren't a million miles away from being a mid table squad and for me, merely staying up from now on is a negative step backwards and it shows little or no ambition.

The only difference between Cryne and Conway is the level of boasting that I am the reason through my actions that the club is sustainable and I am therefore a wonderful and unique businessman.
All the pillocking about "every penny is put back in the squad" only means it is spent on wages.
Spot on SB, nailed it for me that, it is the bragging , bull**** and false claims that turn me off Conway. He talks like he’s transformed football not someone who owns a load of clubs who are in the whole underachieving with such wealthy well connected owners.

There's electronic advertising at 95% of championship clubs Pass and by definition 95% can't be on tv every week .

You could also attract advertising revenue by having a competitive Championship team that attracts the cameras and increases the exposure .

My feelings are that there isn't the will from the consortium to do anything what so ever to push the club further up the financial chain .

The only show in town is to not spend or do anything at all because as SB quite rightly points out it's a badge of honour to not invest and hope to profit from it .

Maybe with four or five other clubs to consider they are spreading themselves too thin .

The fact is though that Barnsley are not on Sky nowhere as near as much as other teams. There's a clear bias towards the bigger clubs like Derby, Forest, Sheff Utd, WBA etc. We normally get the compulsory 2/3 Sky live matches a season. Even last season when we were doing exceptionally well, we featured only 4 times (excluding the play offs which are on whoever participates).

Forest have graced our screens 4 times this season already. That proves to me that no matter how good a season you have, the big name clubs will always trump you.

The highlights shows on Quest etc feature the bigger clubs more regularly too in their extended highlights, therefore they get more TV coverage than us.

I was always interested how the consortium were to quote Conway "going to improve the commercialisation and internationalisation" of BFC. Without the necessary television coverage then how the hell did they intend to do that bar putting a gimmick up in Times Sq? After almost 4 years I don't see much difference in that department but its understandable considering what I've pointed out in the above paragraphs.

That's a fair point. It took them 6 years of good consistent championship football to achieve that though. We have 2 rather bizarre championship seasons behind us under this consortium.
