But Chesterfield who are top have played a game less, so saying 4 points paints a better picture than it actually is

The key match coming up of course is Chesterfield away. Lose there and top spot for us is over. draw just keeps us in the mix, not really good enough despite half the supporters will say how brilliant it is, and a win of course shows top spot is still realistic
I think after this match we have a much better idea of where notts are

Bet whatever you like but and the end of the day not losing at Chesterfield is pretty key….

I dont. Chesterfield are hammered with injuries. If we win you will just say they had loads of injuries and were lucky to play them whilst they did and if we draw or lose you will be a negative nancy.

At least they’ll be able to afford those frost sheets now.

Pros and cons to having a good cup win if the league is your priority, but kudos to Cheaterfield for that win yesterday and their points per game ratio. They sound like a pretty direct, classic non-league side, but it’s proving highly effective thus far. That game on the 21st is going to be biblical (sod’s law, the pitch will be frozen and the game postponed).

It’s all relative, though. If you look at the teams us and Chesterfield have played, it looks a lot rosier. Obviously we play each other, then they are yet to play Grimsby, Stockport or Halifax (plus one that must’ve been postponed that I can’t work out, maybe Maidenhead?). We’re yet to play Southend, King’s Lynn or Dover.

Nothing is certain, but it’s hardly a stretch to say we could take a fair dent out of their lead during that little run.

A draw away there would be a fine result for us.

Looking further ahead, I’ve thought from the start that Notts’ job is to still be in the mix after we host Chesterfield at the end of March. We need to be within a win or two of top spot after that game and we’ve got a great chance - our last eight games are almost impossibly kind:

    Southend A
    Torquay A
    King’s Lynn H
    Weymouth H
    Aldershot A
    Dover H
    Altrincham H
    Maidenhead A

Yes, with those fixtures waiting, the game is more of a 'must not lose'. Then we get them at ML later in the season

Don,t call me a nancy you prick

If we win at Chesterfield and we are great praise is due, and if it is because off their injuries, just tell the truth, don,t try say it was because we were brilliant or the manager was brilliant
If we lose of course i will be negative idiot do you expect me to be happy , as for a draw keeps us in the mix, but i will not make out it is fantastic either

    Thissun^^

I'd take a draw if offered now, plenty of fixtures left yet even if their ''real'' lead over us is 7 points,

Thanks for clarifying you will be a negative idiot rather than a negative nancy.
