Is that informed legalistic opinion, GP...or just wishful thinking? I sincerely hope you’re right.

Its a bit of both I suppose, but I genuinely believe that they have no case for consequential loss arising from a regulatory decision arrived at considerably after the time of the infraction. As Cher sang, "If I could turn back time..........."

A better case might be against said regulator for not acting promptly, but on the face of it the regulator didnt know at the time relevant to Middlesbro that there was an infraction, because EFL only decided our amortisation policy was inappropriate several years after they had initially accepted it?

Why doesn't the DET do some journalism for once and ask Gibbo what grounds he thinks he has for such an outlandish amount?

Lol...just shows how long you’ve been gone for, MA...the DT (they dropped the ‘Evening’ bit years ago) and journalism have about as much in common as the PM and integrity. It’d be a damned good question though.

more likely to see journalism from ET than DT, or even DET. Phone home with the story

The DT/DET/Derbyshire Live shower has for a long time had no original thought, what they've now resorted to is basing 'articles' on the twitter comments of readers and THEN basing follow on 'articles' on the comments made by readers on the first article...

I've probably just wasted 2 minutes of my life I'm never going to get back but I've just emailed the DT suggesting that they'd be doing the DCFC fanbase a great favour if they were to ask Gibson what he bases his £45M claim on. I even suggested that, if they don't have direct contact with Boro then they could always ask their sister paper up there to pose the question.....

... I won't be holding my breath waiting on a reply.

So basically, it's all MM fault then for no sale?

Maybe you didn’t waste those two minutes MA. The DT has at least written something about Middlesbrough’s claim since your intervention...if only to suggest that Simon Jordan has commented that their £45 million claim is a ‘work of fiction’. Keep up the good work.
