I do think something has happened to the pitch this season. Down at the far end it was really cutting up and wet which I have not seen before. As people have remarked we have played through colder periods than this in previous seasons.

Whilst I have no expertise in this area I understood it was partly synthetic and as such should be harder wearing. Having said that it is relaid in pre-season. Perhaps something has happened to the drainage? If there is an issue I suggest the Club addresses it asap, given this could become a recurring issue. We are likely to get significantly colder weather in the next few weeks.

Temperatures are predicted to be zero for one night rest of the time between 9 with lows of 4, if there’s frost on Saturday the club must have Chris Whitty as a groundsman

If it happens in the same places then perhaps a raised cover with some hot air blowers. But this all costs money not only to purchase or hire the equipment but also to erect it and take it down

Millmoor had this problem a few times with the Railway End shadowing parts of the pitch. Both stadiums have a similar orientation
It doesn't matter what orientation. does it?

only in the sense that it,s likely to be the same areas of the pitch that are affected the most.
At Millmoor it was usually the pitch just in front of the Railway End. I would imagine that it's also the pitch down at the away end at the nys that's usually the problem because both goalmouths are north facing and hardly see any Sunshine in winter

The goalmouths at An east west orientated ground might fare better but the touch line to the south might be susceptible

I've always said nowt can beat a good layer of straw where frost is involved....all these modern covers are nowhere near as good as straw ask anyone who owns an allotment...

I may be wrong but I don't ever remember the club having a game postponed at NYS for this reason before. The orientation of the ground certainly hasn't changed and we haven't had a prolonged period of sub-zero temperatures throughout the day so something else must have gone wrong.

Yes but if parts of the pitch are in shadow they will be considerably colder than the surrounding areas.
So there may well have been prolonged sub zero temperatures at the away end goal mouth or wherever else the pitch is frozen

Whether it's happened before will depend on weather conditions in the days and nights leading up to the postponement

......Safety certificate for a new exit plan, with Lincoln bringing more than Cheltenham, not in place yet?? Something's gone wrong here, but hey ho and move on to Sat, that's if it's on..........

Orienation of the ground has no effect if it's got 4 stands, the southern end will always be in shadow in winter......
