Are you suggesting I was making stuff up when I said my father was Ukrainian, why for sympathy or something? His name was Aleksander Pirozek, he didn't talk much about the war much other than tell me that he twice escaped from a Russian POW camp because he refused to fight for the Russians, he always used to say one day when your old enough I'll tell you all about it, funny because he was still saying that when I was 30 years old when he passed away. The only other thing he told me was he had a brother Anton who lived in Pennsylvania, thats all i knew from his side, mum's maiden name was Franziska Zofia Bienkowska who when was a young girl during the war was dragged out into the street along with her mum, dad, gran and others and lined up to be shot by the nazis when they came searching for a young Jewish boy who they did actually hide in a disused well, the nazis never did find the boy which in turn allowed me and my brother and sister to be born, I however was born in Derby 1970 on Grey St about halfway up on the right

    Please don't Swale

Suspect Swale wasn’t referring to you Stenson...either way you shouldn’t have to explain yourself and I don’t think anyone would have doubted you.

It’s curious, or maybe not, how those who’ve experienced war as ‘conscripts’ so regularly don’t want to speak about it. My grandad was exactly the same having returned from WW1 both ‘shell shocked’ and deafened.

I think the sight of often tearful Ukrainian males - brave men - waving goodbye to their wives and children as they escape West is amongst the saddest I’ve ever seen. Certainly puts all the bickering on here into perspective.

Well I've scrolled thru the whole thread and I see noone else talking about their Ukrainian roots, so pray tell, rA, who else is Swale likely to be referencing in those comments - and why? Surely not even you can defend the indefensible?

Sadly GP, you only seem interested in sh1t stirring these days, but for the sake of clarity alone I’ll respond.

I obviously don’t know, but I think it’s likely that Swale was referring to AF’s talk of Mrs. F’s Russian What’s App friend aiming to tell the truth about the Ukraine in her Russian church and village. Whether his possible doubts have any foundation is something I offer no comment on.

I may be wrong of course, however, given that AF and Swale have been at ‘war’ for as long as anyone can remember, and seeing as he has no ‘history’ with Stenson who appears to only talk complete sense on this thread and only ever seeks to wind up Tricky over football - well Forest at least - related matters, that was my interpretation.

As I say...I appreciate I may be wrong but I also understand why it is in your’s and Tricky’s interest to ‘demonise’ him further. I also understand your delight at catching out his ‘plagiarism’, but would suggest it’s time we all, as the title of the thread suggests reconsidered our perspective on this one.

P.S. He made absolutely no reference to Ukrainian ‘roots’, as you have misleadingly claimed. He referrred only to Ukrainian ‘links’.

Back to perspective, the media seem intent on causing panic about a nuclear war. I've today alone had to console 2 family members who've become incredibly anxious about it.
Firstly, there's an actual war happening and we should be concentrating on helping the victims, not stirring up panic over what "might" happen to us, it's ridiculous.
Secondly, why make people worry about something that isn't happening, we're not in a war with Russia, let alone a nuclear one, and how long did the cold war last without bombs going off? We could have a heart attack any day, you don't create a big stir about it and get everyone anxious every day, because, it might happen.

    Been going on for decades.
I grew up with it, 60s/70s/80s. But the 50s was a dead cert according to the press.
