If the club has made a decent wage offer to him - and we'll never know - then what else can they do if the player wants to go? No player is bigger than the club so we use the development fee and move on. Don't think he's the new Souttar but time will tell.

I think what's pi55ing a lot of us off is it's once again Hearts. We need to stop this rot by beating them to one of their targets!

Since Dundee United made him the offer of a new contract, they will be due training compensation from his next club.

Courier Sport understands the Tangerines expect this amount to be significant, given their years-long commitment to Neilson’s development and his ascent to the first team.
That'll be that then. Compensation due at least.

If the boy wants to leave for more money then there's not much we can do unfortunately. Take the fee and move on. You win some, you lose some.

Dundee United are confident they will be due compensation from Hearts when their deal for Lewis Neilson is confirmed.

Hearts are confident they won’t be due a penny.

This will either be sorted very, very quickly or run for absolutely bloody ages.

Somebody’s phucked up here big style.

It’ll be a case of United have been slow off the mark with the contract offer or Nielsen’s agent has badly advised the player and Hearts as to his current situation surrounding a fee.

    Either way, somebody’s head’s gonna roll…………….

If we did indeed make our 'final offer' in February, and it was worth more than his current contract, then we'll be due compensation. Clubs have to offer a new & improved contract at least 60 days prior to the end of the players contract. 'Improved' is the key word here. It has to be a better contract than the player is currently on, which you'd imagine it would've been.

    I totally agree.

Money talks and he’ll have an agent looking for the most lucrative deal available.

Hope he doesn’t end up languishing in an English development side - could well be what happens though

    I really hope so

I don’t think he is that good. His time on loan at Falkirk when he got game time showed he’s not the finished article as well.

Dependent on those around him and United nurtured him really well.

I’ll take Ross Graham over him any day of the week

Have to say that im decidedly indifferent to this one. Its maybe because of the impact that Ross Graham made when given his chance, but im not so sure Lewis will be missed that much. While he did play well when given his chance, his fitness to last a match was a concern and i cant discount him as a candidate for the Billy Big Baws that TC dropped at the start of the season.

Once fantastic thing from last season is there are plenty wee gems to emerge and make their name!

TC interview in the Sun yesterday saying the kids will have to fight for their places next season because we're targeting 6 signings.
