Ardley is 12/1 for the FGR job. The caretaker lady is 4/1 favourite to be appointed full time.

Heard a clip of her interviewed earlier, she did have an air of confidence and authority about her and seeing that people like Sven and Mourinho have rose to the very top despite having little experience as players at decent levels, I wouldn't rule out a female manager being able to do well in the men's game. The gulf between male and women players is absolutely enormous and it is farcical how the media now pretend they're equally important, but in this case - if FGR keep her on long enough to oversee some league games - she might do OK. Hope not though because it's FGR and you'd assume that because it's them, this appointment has been made partly for ideological/novelty reasons rather than purely on merit, so it could just as easily end up a disaster and set women back years in terms of landing jobs in the men's game. Simon Jordan just now referred to Dale Vince as "Swampy's dad".

Jordan comes up with some corkers doesn't he. I quite enjoy listening to him when I can.

There's no reason why Hannah Dingley or other female manager can't succeed in leading a men's team, but it won't have anything to do with being female. The key question is do they know what they're talking about, what they're aiming for, can they communicate this effectively and do they command the respect of the players they're wanting to lead? The answer to the last question depends heavily on the first three.

As you've said, the concern would be that Dale Vince has made this appointment "for effect", rather than on merit in line with the principles above, but if that's the case it's still not Hannah Dingley's fault. She's in the manager's chair now and deserves to be given some time to show what she can do, as with any other manager.

Totally agree. I was most surprised by that.
