The (loose) theme was songs with liquids in the title but when I started to struggle and didn't want to include a slew of 'rain' songs as we'd done that before my focus evolved to include bodies of water and eventually artists that also fitted the theme as well as titles.

Thanks as always, CAM. When there's nothing much happening football-wise, these quizzes are a great diversion.

On question 1, out of interest, can you explain the clue you gave because I can't connect it with the song/artist. I thought "As the Crow Flies" was a decent stab at it: "From A to B in Straight Lines" - that's how crows fly...Rory Gallagher and his entourage had some success with it in the mid 70s - a Tony Joe White song. I know the clue seems to relate to the band rather than the song but you can read it either way!

In any event, the song and band in question were unknown to me so totally academic!

From A to B was their debut album CT and Straight Lines was another 'hit' of theirs. I saw them live in 1980 and they were OK if somewhat short lived. I think Living By Numbers was their biggest hit. A sort of poppy/new wave/electronic band. Take a look on YouTube.

Thanks, CAM. Totally clear on the clue now. I do not remember them and, having now listened to the big hit, it didn’t reawaken any memories. Having said that, I quite liked the song.

I moved back to UK from the US in 1978 and left again in 1981 so was pretty plugged in to the UK music scene at that time. Having said that I was already 29 in 1980 and a first time father so probably wasn’t as tuned in as I like to think!
