It's pretty hard to disagree with that. The scoreline flattered us v Peterhead, 2 soft pens and a dodgy red put a gloss on that although we played some decent joined up football.
The positives tonight were some good individual performances and the fact that we did create some chances but it could easily have been 1-1 because the Falkirk lad should be scoring one on one.
I think there are signs that we're moving in the right direction, no more long balls and we're trying to play football at last.
Needs some improvement if we're going to win the Championship.
Have to disagree on your summary of the two wins, Peterhead was a lopsided game, we just didn't do enough with the chances, most shots going over, they did nothing, Walton was a spectator
Tonight we had about 4-5 good chances to extend the lead before their dud up front messed up a chance to shoot, which may not have ended up in the net tbf
Falkirk are probably about mid to low championship in terms of quality to be honest, and we went away to them on their plastic and imo looked a level above for 75% of the game and I still think we'll improve
We should be top end championship even with current squad if utilised correctly (that where we see how JG does) but the other sides will raise their game against us so each game will be a challenge
Just back from being at match tonight and I think it showed a lot about where we are for next season
Walton is class
Freeman and Grimshaw definitely good enough for RB
McMann ok tonight. Mistake against Partick but again he’s good enough for this level
Holt and Graham won a lot of headers and know how to defend
Docherty good presence
Meekison didn’t seem to do enough tonight
Cudjoe had some good runs. Gives a way a lot of fouls and needs to give more end product
Watt is good link up but not a striker
Middleton frustrating and not delivering enough
Glass - did well when he came on but I wish he’d have taken a shot when he had a chance near the end
Sibbald his usual self and should be playing
The young players looked good overall and big season for all of them
Overall - WE NEED ANOTHER STRIKER
If we had someone who could take in the ball and finish would have scored 3 or 4
We need a good wide forward with genuine pace. For the love of god please sign one United.
A proper keeper!
That's all.
I don’t share some of the gloom re game. I thought we played well. Could have been 3/4 (should have been).
Thought first half we were by far the better team. 2nd half Middleton and McLeod made us weaker.
That said I thought we dealt with everything they threw at us in the 2nd half fairly comfortably. Last season as early as it is I don’t think that would have been the case.
Watt is still a fair bit from being match fit as will moult be but for me when both are fit they will cause problems in the div, but I would still like to see another striker brought in.
Docherty and sibbald look like a decent pairing in the midfield. Young Archie mochrie and glass will need to step up a bit. If they do they could in my opinion add the creativity needed.
Thought kia was causing problems before pulling up and is going to be a positive going into the new season.
We are maybe a couple of players away from being a decent team that will only get better the more they play together.
I think with Walton in goal and if we sign Gallagher and play Grimshaw at RB. Dare I say it we could be pretty solid at the back too.
Still some work to be done but I’m a fair bit happier than I was post Spartans.
I thought McMann was good also. Paterson was another one who used the step-over as a trick. We've always had good left-backs that could deliver a good cross into the box. Right-back though I'd say Watson was good but had hardly any cover in front of him. Kovacevic great man marker but not good for putting in crosses. Pedersen is the best man marker I've seen with Kovacevic second.
