We spunked half a million on Gueye and he's been worse than a man down, why not invest similar sums of money in a manager who would give you a return far beyond what a 1/2 million player ever could. If Miovski is sold for insane money in January then there is your carrot for any incoming manager, a nice transfer kitty with a large signing on fee and contract for themself.

We're not looking to win the league, complete lunacy to be saying that at this point in time but we should at the very least be looking to make 3rd our own and get to finals more often than not with winning a trophy every couple of years.

Any manager coming in that could produce those results would be sought after by bigger clubs down south or on the continent so it's a win win for everyone.

Will Cormack push the boat out if Robson does get the dunt though? It would be the last throw of the dice for him so why not go big this time.
I would have no issue in paying for a quality manager, as long as it doesn't take funds away from our playing budget. I'm still not convinced it all boils down to money though.

I don't have the answers min, but the prospect of Colgate and his band of co-horts choosing yet another manager for us gives me the fear.

Why would it be his “last throw of the dice”?

Because I think if Robson does get the bullet and the next appointment doesn't work out then he'll take a massive back seat in attendance etc with regards AFC.

I don't think he'd look to get out completely but wouldn't expect to see him so involved as he is just now.

We are a deemed a nothing club in a nothing league.

Any managers linking themselves with our position when it arises are just using it for leverage at rolls elsewhere.

Our best chance of a successful manager would be a young manager with the balls to do the job and be able to walk the walk as well as just talk the talk.

Every club outwith the cheeks are living in the hope of the next appointment being the messiah we all want and need.
You are spot on with that one.

Outside of Scotland we are not seen as a big job to managers. I’m sure there are English managers in league 1 and league 2 who would see it as a step up but these top quality proper managers people are wanting us to go for will have zero interest in coming here.

Even guys like Mowbray who have been mentioned who aren’t top managers would be able to get another job down south so wouldn’t bother coming up here.

Realistically you would be looking at someone in Scotland who is out of work and is never going to get a bigger job than us these days or someone who is in work and sees it as a step up.

Yeah so we should abandon all hope then and just call it a day.

No you are well within your right to think a top manager is going to come here to finish 3rd and get to the odd final.

It’s just highly likely you are going to end up disappointed when Robsons replacement gets appointed.

Very possibly but I'd much rather live in the hope that we could attract a better calibre of managers than the ones you suggested, especially given the rhetoric around top 100 club etc.

As for previous managers then I can't say I've been particularly enthused with any appointments since Ebbe, they all ticked a box but none were very inspiring and had me excited and what the potential could be.

I do not see any structure or tactical ingenuity in the way Robson sets up and has set up the team

It's a back 5 and pretty much hoof the ball towards the strikers in a 5-3-2 or a 5-4-1 which he has used for a few games

I do not see him as somebody who can ever win games on a tactical level, purely more of a motivator who can get teams wound up for the odd game here and there and run them into the ground to get an occasional respectable performance and result which is physcially unsustainable in a 2 game a week period

I just do not see any progression as a football team with him as a manger, there is more to football than just running around a lot and hoofing it, it's borderline hit and hope

There are good technical players at the club in the middle of the park, notably Barron and Clarkson, but they are just being bypassed completely in most games with the direct style and complete tack of width due to the wingback set up

I would hate to see Robson go and be replaced with another boring manager who sets up with 5 at the back and playing direct like Robson does, i would prefer a manager who is more technical and plays a 4-3-3 and develop that style through the entire club from first team to youth sides with an emphasis purely on he technical side to gradually improve the teams footballing philosophy, and stick with that style even when it fails as the end goal is to improve the club long term

Problem is of course, is the clubs entire recruitment model was around playing 5 at the back, too many centre backs, most of whom are poor on the ball and end up hoofing it, and too many central strikers who can't really play as wide forwards, the club have signed too many players in these positions and spent money doing it, we paid half a million for a lad up top who has barely had a kick because of the tactical approach and the inability to play anywhere other than centrally

Even if we did find the next coming of Fergie in our next appointment, any success would see them snapped up by a bigger club.

We have a Cup Final to look forward to in 10 days time and there is zero excitement about it. I doubt the mood will lift much even if we do win it.
